Someone working at the club has said this, but who knows. The problem with not appointing until the end if the season, is that there will be so many rumours.

It will be interesting to see what ST thought of his tenure at Goodison.
At the moment I'm thinking "wow, sign him up straight away!"

Surely we need to get someone on board straight away, albeit in a supporting role if need be to Rusk if only in the background but at least will be able to see what the club has and therefore needs
Get the business done straignt away and pay any compensation required no matter what!

I'm not saying we'll do a Luton, but the way the club is right now you never know

Other than the fact that he and his TV presenter missus have a pad at Studland just over the water from his complete and utter coont of an uncle, why would he want to leave Coventry, where things have gone pretty well for him?

Parachute payments, Dibling will bring in a lot money, more money I suppose. In theory we will be better placed to come back up.

He came into a hostile, totally toxic environment after Benitez alienated the fans and the players.

He did brilliant in uniting the fans, kept them up against all the odds because they really were abysmal, both on and off the field. The following season was 10 times worse off the field, with no owners and no one in charge. They had to sell their best player, Richarlison and then had Gordon acting the rat (this was before he was challenged outside the ground). He was utterly wrecked by the time he was sacked and it was the right decision for him to go and be replaced by Dyche.

He is held in good esteem by Evertonians, he took on a poisoned chalice that got a lot worse due to thongs completely out of his control. But he did it all with dignity and pride and never hid. He also took the Chelsea job on twice in difficult circumstances so it’s not as though he’s not scared of a challenge or going for an easy ride.

I think he’d be a very good bet for Saints.

I just have very bad vibes of any relative of Redknapp ever having any association with our club.

It just wouldn't be right.

The more I think about it, I can see why this might happen. He has premier league experience, keeping Everton up as ST has just said. He managed Chelsea. He has done a good job at Coventry. He lives in the south. He's a big name, who could manage us in the PL, if we were to be promoted.

I am very much for Rohl, but he has never managed in the PL, should we be promoted. I can see the thinking with Lampard if true. But Coventry could yet be promoted.

I know exactly where you're coming from and that particular surname resonates bad vibes wherever you hear it, and though he's supposed to have retired he still appears everywhere as an "expert our 'arry" which does my head in. And then he turns up on fkng radio and tv ads cos he really needs the money!

But "our Frank" knows the Championship and Premiership well. He has respect in the game to possibly attract players (?), and reading ST's comments may be a fit

However there is one big stumbling block as you have said Pat, Coventry City!!! And would our illustrious owners splash the cash on a pretty decent candidate even if he did want to come down here

He's got more ambitious and sensible owners where he is.

And if Coventry make the play offs, I think they'll go up.

Especially if they face Leeds in the final.

Are Coventry's owners more ambitious?

They never seem to spend that much on players.

Our lot have spent a lot. They have just done it mainly pretty badly.

I honestly don’t know. I like Dyche, and once the dust settles on the shite that Everton have been through, he would be held in high esteem for the incredible job he did last season especially and the season before. He looked goosed towards the end at Everton, had ran out of ideas and his ways just weren’t working.

For a clean slate, positive fresh start with young players with a point to prove, I’d probably go for Lampard over Dyche. He did very well at Derby in his first job, almost getting them promoted, has done brilliant at Coventry so far and has the scars and experience, plus gained respect, from two tough, one near impossible, jobs in the Premiership.

With you all the way Pat.

The thought of the possibility of old rubber face being at St Mary’s on match days would be enough to stop me renewing my season ticket, along with a good few others I suspect.

Sorry couldn’t disagree more. It is vital we get this spot on and don’t rush into it. We’ve made too many rash stupid decisions. Rusk and lallana can see the season out but we must get this right.

Coventry hardly spend anything Pat. He’d have a lot more to spend here. I’m really enjoying winding my Cov mate up about all this. 😎 Obviously if Cov go up things may be different and he’d want to stay . I don’t think it will be him anyway I think it will be Rohl .

I don't know how much they've spent but they seem to have replaced Gyokeres, Hamer and O'Hare with a decent players and they were ambitious enough to sack Robins and roll the dice with Lampard, which is paying off. They are also filling their (Mike Ashley's) ground now, which hasn't happened in years.

Maybe the fact that they are more savvy owners is the key thing.

Sport Republic spent £100m on 10 players this season.
Quantity not quality.

£100m should get you 3 Premier League standard players not 10.

It’s very simple.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.
