Yep, the subs appeared to stifle Villa's momentum. Nevertheless, an excellent fightback albeit ultimately in vain.

...Rashford torching PSG in the Champions League, another brace for McTominay last night as Napoli still breathing down Inter's necks in Serie A, even the much maligned Antony ripping up la Liga & the Conference League.

Ineos masterclass.

Meh, I've seen Damion Stewart score a winner at Villa Park before

Some manager is Unai Emery, doing a tremendous job

Yeah Rashford going off cost them, never looked like scoring after that, great game though and some effort to push that PSG team so close

Agreed . He was on fire tonight. Great move for him to a Champions league's team .
Doesn’t deserve to be slumming it with a bottom seven bunch of no marks.

Thought he was dreadful first half. Lost the ball in 4 or 5 great positions, including the one that led to the first goal. Great second half though.

You know there will be some Villa fans, likely on social media only, saying “Not good enough. Emery has taken us as far as he can. We need a new man to take us to the next level.” Probably with a few more expletives.

Er yeah why did Rashford go off?? He looked a completely transformed player. I'm assuming he and Villa will look to make his a permanent deal.

I switched on just in time for McGinn's goal, then when Konsa scored it really did look game on. But Donnarumma made a couple of excellent saves and Konsa should have scored another but totally missed his header.

Interesting to see how the Arse get on tonight. Need to avoid an early Real goal - in any case I expect they'll get plenty of help from the officials...

The Aston Villa butterfly effect is crazy.

Just 5 years ago amid financial turmoil in the club the club stayed up by a single point. During the season Villa drew 0-0 in a game they should have lost 1-0 after goal line technology didn't pick up that a ball has crossed the line. Without that point they would have been relegated, they would have probably had a hard time given their financial issues. Instead they stayed up and 4 seasons later they are playing quarter final Champions League football against PSG.

I think if Madrid are a goal up after an hour they'll do it, don't need to go mad, the longer the game goes Arsenal will panic but think they will score so a big ask for Madrid

Kudos to Arsenal what a performance last night. Barely put a foot a wrong other than the goal they gifted Real (what was Raya doing? You've just scored, hold the ball, what's the rush??)

And the ref was absolutely superb, I was expecting a total homer but he didn't stand for any of Real's antics. Even booked Raya for time wasting in the first half! Can this guy be cloned?
