Marti - saying goodbye? 15:23 - Apr 26 with 4876 viewsJules4367

As Marti walked around the pitch today I shook his hand, looked in his eyes and said “Please Stay!”
( which some of you will not agree with!)
He replied
“I really want to !!”

Just seen someone else asked if he is staying and he replied
“ I hope so”

Taking these two responses as honest replies as opposed to ‘Beale talk’ it seems that his lap is a potential goodbye but the decision is not his but dependent upon ‘others’

I know he has his critics on here, and rightly so, but be careful what you wish for. Why do we keep getting fools as chairman/ CEOs or whatever.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

I think he will be off now.

I want him to stay but fear the club will get rid of Marti. It would be a poor decision to do so IMHO but sometimes the wrong people end up as the fall guys.

Injury performance and some aspects of recruitment need to be fundamentally different next season. For me the manager deserves another full season. If we did get rid, I very much doubt we could acquire a manager any level higher...

Be extra painful, if Marti gets the gig at West Brom or Norwich and gets either into the playoffs.

Can sadly see that scenario panning out...

I have been critical of the O poster at times but this if true has given me some hope.

Totally true and he looked sincere as he shook my hand - but sadly I think it will be out if his hands!!

And I don’t mind criticism… I’m not always right but DO love the R’s !!

This reminds me of a time long ago when I had no wrinkles and I took my younger brother to wait for autographs outside the players entrance after a game. Trevor Sinclair came past and nicely autographed my brother’s paper and I asked if he was please staying after all the rumours - he said yes then signed for West Ham pretty much immediately afterwards.

I’m not taking the blame for that awful trade, just saying you sadly can’t trust anything anyone says in a passing question!

Shit but local

What Marti said , as per the OP, was " He wants too!" and " I hope so".
These did not have to be said and he could simply have smiled at me or said, we'll see.
As such I take him at face value and that he would like to but, as per my post, it is likely to be out of his control!

Precisely my point. Tricky Trev could’ve batted away my question but answered to say he was staying

He recently signed a new contract. If staying is out of his control it means the club are prepared to sack him thus paying out a hefty compensation. What a shambles. If this is how the club is run what chance do we have

Not that I want Marti to go, but if Gary O'Neal was willing to come would you take him?

Have to say I would be tempted.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Another big pre season awaits with comings and goings only this time everything needs to be right because the teams coming up next year will be no mugs

I mean obviously it’s a no brainer but if we are doing fantasy scenarios it’s silly to limit them to Gary O’Neal rather than Pep Guardiola

What is this weird obsession with Gary O'Neill?

Do people really think he's been waiting it out on the sidelines for the right opportunity to get his teeth into a Championship relegation battle?

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

There is no way we’ll sack him, he’s a valuable asset, they may be happy for him to leave for the right fee, but even if they don’t get on, you don’t sack a good manager under contract and incur a cost to pay him and his team off to go, we have no FFP head room as it is.

Every company has a moto I.e Nike - just do it

QPR - just shoot yourself in the foot

We have decent manager are going in the right direction so time to shoot ourselves in the foot

Not recent but once chatted with Remy at an open day when they're were all doing the ice bucket challenge and we asked him if he was going to leave to which he responded in the negative. He then left. If they go, they go sand it'd not worth getting too attached to any player or coach/manager as there's sod all we can do.

A number of players who are in contract next season (Lloyd, Nardi, Chair) featured in the ‘we are together’ season ticket campaign video the other week.

None of the senior players who are out of contract (eg Cook, Dunne, Colback) appeared - regardless of seniority.

Marti, who is in contract, doesn’t appear. Hope I’m not reading too much into that.

Anyone here thought that Marti might have just realised he isnt up to the job?

Strange substitutions, poor players (you can not make a silk purse out of a sows ear), interesting formations, poor formations, dubious like ups, etc etc

I'm beginning to think that although the cash really isnt there for really good players, Marti might just have 'had his chance' now.

His ability as a manager might now warrant some scrutiny.

How can you judge him after the injurys we have suffered throughout the season ? Even when players returned they were subject to restricted game time by sports science advice.
Chair for example has been available to do 90 min for hardly any games . Cooke , Morrison , Paal , Varane, Colback , Field, Dembele . Saito , Frey , Kolli, Lloyd , Celar all out for 10 games at least, thats almost 25% of the season

Any coach in any league would struggle with that . Marti had us safe last year after taking over a disaster and hs done it again despite the injurys .

You dont always have to win something to show ability .. IMO
