Gaffer on today's defeat on 16:13 - Apr 26 by stainrods_elbow
He's sorry! Not as sorry as me! He gets paid for it; we (or those who go) get fleeced.
Compare his pre-match interview, which was all about giving it a real go!
He had three or four out today, sure - but he makes it sound like it was a whole team! And then more or less says the team was 'empty' inside.
What, then, is the point of a coach at all? It's bullshit, and anyone with half a brain or sense of pride can see that.
You cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and you caan take a horse to water but cannot make it drink! The players are just not good enough but that doesn't mean the coaching and intent is wrong! That's like saying that you want your house decorated, car repaired or carpet laid and you give clear instructions, but when it goes wrong it's your fault! NO IT ISN'T - he is work with sub standard craftsmen. The defence today was attrocious, Paal has all season long has been and was today a liability that other teams target. Marti tries to shore this up by having cover but today it was Dembele who did nothing! That is NOT Marti's fault! He can see the issue but hasn't the tools to repair it! Naardi in goal today was attrocious--went down too early for the first, playing out from the back was poor. Chair's corner summed it up! So we desrved to get beaten but it is not the coach's fault but the fault of the team and palyers who let him down. !!

His squad, his players his tactics and fck me If we didnt burgle that result at Oxford?
Our last two home games we've conceded Seven bastard goals FFS.
We're as shit now as when he arrived.
Truth hurts. Our home form, no matter what limited players we have, is shameful... and has been for years. No one at the club seems to care though. Last two seasons we have managed to limp over the line with some good and some very spawny results on the road. When you look at all the London clubs in the Premier and EFL...we are the only one not on an upward trend 🤔

I don’t feel sorry for him: he didn’t HAVE to start those ‘attackers’.
Have to agree with that. If Frey can play a half then start him and let us try to get a foothold in the game. We've seen before holding it up is not Kolli's game.
Same for Chair - start him and let's see how he's feeling at half time.
I'd argue Morgan might have given a bit more legs too but can understand he's tailed off.

“His players”. I’m not so sure on that. “Burgled the result at Oxford”. Nah, I’ve seen a lot worse and undeserving wins. Probably the first genuine hammering I remember under Marti, and one of the worst seasons for injuries I remember. I think he’s been dealt a sh*t hand, and if you think this team should be doing better than 16th, with the injury problems we’ve had, fair enough. I don’t agree with you. I think there are far bigger problems than him

Yet another bizarre team selection today, one of many this season.
I've never understood not starting with your strongest 11 but Marti does it time and again.
Because he can’t. It’s one for the LFW glossary the notion that Cifuentes is choosing to leave limited players on the bench while crap ones start as an attempt at tactical excellence.

West Ham? Clutching at straws.

Most of the strongest 11 is injured or, at best, recovering from injury. The manager is dealing with a combination I would suggest of poor recruitment and a dysfunctional approach to physical fitness at the club.

Sadly never going to change while the idiot owners are here. It's incredibly depressing.

So what part of it IS the fault of the coaching? For you, it sounds like none of it!

When the next man is in the hot seat you’ll be pulling apart his pre and post match interviews and beating yourself up about them
It’s not healthy
I think you’re expecting someone to straight talk and go balls out on the squad Handy hint…. That’s not how football works and nobody in the position of head coach is going to come out and publicly state that his players are shite and the clubs a mess.
Have a good summer X
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I'll post 'positively' (and have and do) when there's something to applaud. In the meantime, I'd suggest you play the ball and not the man.
On the other hand, go ahead, shoot the messenger if it makes you feel better.
I'm not shooting the messenger. Well, I kind of am so I apologise. I just think we have to accept that we were miles adrift and actually saved ourselves somehow. Look at the mess Preston, Luton and Stoke are in on the final day of the season. It really could have been us and probably should of been us. We have another crack at it and today we played a team that may well establish itself in the Prem. They were the ones with the handbrake off today and we couldn't handle it.
Honestly, we have no idea how fit any of the players are or what the advice is as to how much they can play. What we mustn't do is over play a few like Chair and Kolli because they are coming back from an injury plagued season. There's no point.
I wouldn't want to be the manager at the club with what are few resources compared to most of the rest of the division. That is where we are and what Marti has to deal with. We have to have a more physical team next season because we have been overrun a lot of times.
But we are not clinging on by our finger nails next week, despite the fact that we may only be a few points above the drop zone after next Saturday. It was a very bad day today and we were taught a reality lesson in where we actually are, which is a lower end of the table side. There does need to be a mind shift in terms of what Warnock did all those years back when he brought in some 'muck and nettles' players like Hill and Derry. We need to toughen up next season.
So yes I did shoot the messenger but luckily for you I am a Star Wars Imperial Stormtrooper... so I missed!
I still stand by the fact that we are basically in line with last season points wise and will likely finish higher in the table. And we have done this without JCS for basically all of the season and without Chair for most of it (certainly at last seasons level). If you were told that beforehand, you would have bitten my hand off to finish where we have.
We are not Burnley or Leeds. We cannot afford to miss out best players for long periods.

I'm a bit worried that I've started agreeing with you recently Lblock. What's going on?

Of course he can.
The idea that Frey and Chair were good for 50 second half minutes but weren’t fit to play 47 first half minutes is nonsense: against the best team in the division you need to give yourself the very best chance of competing from the start, not get blown away early doors and fame well over before they come on.
Can’t remember any other managers keeping our best players on the bench at the start of games so often: if they are fit enough to be there they are fit enough to start. Take them off at HT/early 2nd half if you have to.

We also lost Cook and Morrison. Then Field. We didn't have Colback for the first half of the season.
In attack we lost Celar, Kolli and then Lloyd. Frey wasn't always available.
Dembele we lost long term, then Saito. And to put the tin lid on it our only pace in Smyth.
It's been a farce and yet we're not that far behind teams like Norwich, Watford and Sheffield Wed and above Stoke, Preston and Hull. The guy's performed miracles.

Respectfully Ned, real life is not football manager and without resorting to finger puppets I’m not sure at this point I could ever spell it out you to a level you would be able to accept.
