Looking at the final National League table the four relegated teams are Wealdstone,Maidenhead,Fylde and Ebbsfleet. From my understanding two of these relegated teams will play next season in National League North and two in national League South. Fylde are based in Lancashire so that's easy. However Wealdstone is in the London Borough of Harrow, Maidenhead and Ebbsfleet are in the county of Kent. So-unless I am missing the point- how can any of those 3 teams play in National League North come August? I realise Oxford City were dumped into NL North but could a team from a London borough be playing in that league next season? Any ideas? Thanks.

Needham Market in Suffolk played in that division last season,which meant away games at Darlington,Spennymoor and Hereford. The alternative would’ve been the south division with trips to Truro and Weymouth.There isn’t an easy answer to it unfortunately.

Three of the relegated teams will be playing in National league South, with Meryth (Southern League South champions) likely to be placed in the North. The other options for transfer are the two clubs that are north of Meryth - Hemel Hempstead & Chelmsford, but moving one of these is unlikely.
Gloucester could win the SLS playoffs & that would cause some debate. Would they go North with Meryth (Oxford City moving south), or instead of the Welsh club?

The distance south for Meryth is only marginal. As it is for Chesham!
Meryth Tydfil is in South Wales & has access to the M5 & closer to the Midland clubs in the north. Yes, Hemel has even easier access to the M1!
The Welsh League tried very hard this season to get Meryth to transfer to their Premier League, but the clubs supporters refused to let it happen. Meryth Town FC are the reincarnation of Meryth Tydfil FC (ex FL club) who went out of existence a few years back.

I’m pretty sure QPR would have played Merthyr Town back in the 20s & 30s in Division 3 South. They dropped out of the league but came back after the war as Merthyr Tydfil. Amazingly in the 80s they beat Atalanta in a European Cup Winners Cup game but lost the tie on aggregate. At some point they went bust and reformed as Merthyr Town again.
I saw them play at Harrow Bororugh a few seasons ago. It was late in the season and they were in danger of being relegated so I was surprised to see a team playing decent well-organised football. They managed to stay up and I said to my Boro mate they’d be promotion contenders for the next season. I think they’ve now had two promotions. I don’t know the details but like football at any level money played a part - it seems they’ve spent it wisely and made the right decisions.

We played them 22 times in the 1920’s.5 losses,6 draws and 11 wins.

I always wondered why they don’t have a three way divison including a midlands league and make the allocation automatic.
Would fit in with the geographical shape of the country better, except maybe in far South West.

Probably dilutes the quality in the short term if you’ve got the relative big money clubs in the same league as teams with even less than the lesser sides have now. Longer term there’s always going to be an issue of someone being in a regional league inconvenient for them. Last season three of the four relegated from the National League were southern and two very southern (Torquay, Yeovil). Same the year before (Weymouth, Dover) so the line has had to be pushed further south to find someone to play with the northerners. Lower down the pyramid they have leagues of varying size depending on which teams end up at which level.

Its not the final table yet though & let's hope Wealdstone can pull off a houdini-like escape from the drop.Mind you if they do It will probably mean Dagenham & Redbridge together with Maidenhead going down. The geographical problem will still be just as bad.
