who's favourite for promotion. 20:29 - May 6 with 1516 viewsdiplodocus

If Southend are to go up, they will need to win 3 times away (including Wembley). same for Halifax. we will need to win 2 times away, and same for Lun (atics). York and FG will only need to win once away for promo...
So who is the smart money on??

Three wins from 7th isn’t impossible. Grimsby did it the other year winning at hot favourites Wrexham on the way.
If I was a gambler I’d be putting money on York.
Seems nuts that you can get 96 points yet not be promoted automatically.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you. York are my bet. I don't think they are invincible but Forest Green for me are beatable should we make the semi final.

Agree with that. Dale at their best can beat most in this league. If Southend decide to put 9 or 10 men behind the ball, history dictates we won't score and will probably lose unless Jim has a paradigm shift in approach to such a situation as an alternative to 122 ineffectual passes around the opposition penalty area until we lose possession. He'll also have to be more savvy and imaginative in-game than Maher, Cotterill and Hinshelwood which seems unlikely. Prove me wrong Jim. Please!

What do people thing about the quarter & semi finals being 1 leg instead of home& away. I like it because it ensures there is some reward for finishing as high as you can. It also gives an underdog a better chance as the stronger teams are more likely to win over 2 games. Even though potentially we would be away to FG, I would fancy us to pull off a 1 game shock against them that win over 2.
In terms of the original question I am more worried about the Southend game than I would be against FG. As mentioned they may come and park the bus, and I would fear 1-0 result. Also we should get a good crowd which seems to be a market for poor performance too !!
York clear favourites overall but a Wembley final is 50/50.

I would not say the final is away because its at Wembley the same for both sides.

Any one from six can go up its difficult to call. Worthy favourites in York but take your pick any of the other five.. Bookmakers make us 3rd favourites and Halifax the rank outsiders.

York 11/8

Forest Green 5/2

Dale 15/2

Oldham 9/1

Southend 16/1

Halifax 20/1

I think we have already over achieved this season, so there is no pressure on the Dale and to an extent its a bit of a lottery isn't it?
