First rumour is regarding a long standing defender. Prickly customer with questionable choices when it comes to haircuts and first team coaches. May be on his way out if the deal is right.

I suppose this one goes down as a maybe because of the injury, but Lyle definitely wants another season at Col U. Surely a no-brainer if he’s fit, so hope he does!

Really pleased with that. Hopefully they'll all decide to stay.

Very good news indeed. I'm particularly relieved to see Lyle is still in our plans despite his current injury (and age if we're honest). It doesn't stop others coming in with offers we can't refuse, but it is a clear signal of intent. I wonder if Scully is just a formality, and we'll pick him up as a free transfer imminently? We've never really seen the best of him consistently enough, but on his day he is a good footballer.

Ali Smith released by Lincoln.

If Wimbledon don't get promoted we could be in for a shout.

Following the announcement of our retained list, we want to say a big thank you to our loan players from the 2024/25 season.

Jamie McDonnell, Tyreece Simpson, Anthony Scully, Jack Tucker and Ken Aboh - thanks for everything you gave us this season!

As Danny said, “we’re hopeful one or two might come back on a more permanent basis.”

We’ll be watching, and wishing you all the best wherever you go next!

Has Danny possibly answered my question?

Scully and Tucker have both been released by their clubs, so I am sure DC would be interested in signing them.

I know I've been out drinking beer and watching an excellent FA Cup Final, but can we dream that might include Jamie McDonnell on another season-long loan? I know the chances are virtually zero, but he's flourished at Col U, maybe Forest see that and give him another season?

Nurse, time for my medication...

So pleased for Palace. As far as McDonnell is concerned, I'm all for the power of medication but perhaps a loan to a League One side is more likely. But in the meantime I will also take my meds and keep dreaming.

On the retained list, the one that slightly surprised me was Read. After being on the margins this season, he really needs to prove himself. He can deliver more, but reacted badly to being sidelined.

This is where the concern should be, all indicate they want to stay, but effectively free agents, so hopefully are wanting an increase in salary, and with a budget cut expect departures.

According to one person on FaceBook, Read's contract was automatically renewed due to a clause in his contract that was triggered after a certain amount of appearances for the club/player.

That person also commented that Read and Goodliffe will still be sold though.....

I personally hope not, as both players are more than capable at this level. However, would they be happy being bit players and not regular starters?

Goodliffe imo not reliable enough and if Southend get promoted reckon he will go to the.
I hope Read stays.

LOUIS Dunne has become the latest former Colchester United player to sign for ambitious non-league side Maldon and Tiptree.

Think he once had a job within the club integrating the apprentices and studies for the youngsters, can anyone confirm ?

He certainly had a coaching role at the club, working with the U12s.

Think the automatic renew stops them leaving on a free, until the contract runs out naturally.
That way the club can hold out for a fee from any interested parties.
