Lineker finally sacked 11:49 - May 19 with 4172 viewsJoesus_Of_Narbereth

For posting a video rife with the sort of offensive imagery we saw in Germany in the 1930’s. He claimed he didn’t realise that a picture of a rat next to Jewish people might have negative connotations.

If he really is that thick then he certainly doesn’t have the knowledge or intelligence to lecture the public in the first place.

He will now leave the bbc “earlier than expected”.

I agree.

He's shared something that fits his stance and hasn't noticed the awful symbol.

He's then apologised but of course that's never enough these days.

This is just another example of cancel culture.

I disagree.

You can be concerned about immigration without being racist.

You can be concerned about the current actions of Israel without being antisemitic.

It's complete bonkers that Lucy Connolly, despite being a clearly unpleasant woman, is serving a longer sentence for a bad tweet than actual rapists. This kind of political interference is what causes civil unrest.

Lineker is entitled to his beliefs, but as (essentially) a Government employee he should be aware of the consequences of voicing them. Working for the BBC he should be impartial. He isn't, therefore he shouldn't be working for the BBC.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Re your first paragraph, I suspect it's all down to how the sentences are handed down for each different sorts of cases

I know a guy who is a barrister who would know exactly how this works.

Ateotd that woman helped to incite a riot and basically instructed people to kill other people, social media has too much power, it seriously needs looking at, I have never ever participated in tw@tter or face fvck that very reason.

You are totally correct re linekar, he is in an impartial role and he shouldn't be voicing his political opinions.

I don't think she did incite a riot at all. It was going to happen anyway, and she deleted and apologised for the tweet quite quickly. Her biggest mistake as far as I can gather was pleading guilty, as many did during that period.

The Labour councillor who called for people's throats to be cut pleaded not guilty and hasn't even gone to trial yet.

She along with alot of others did, that's what starts it, a few post, then it snowballs.

Apologising is too late, that's the problem with social media, some people dont engage brain before posting, they pleaded guilty because they were guilty, they were all complicit in inciting a riot, a riot where it was lucky no one was killed it was a disgusting episode, if social media didn't exist it wouldn't have happened.

Tbh I know nothing of the councillor, so can't comment.

Anyway I don't normally post on politics anymore, this should be moved to the non football section as it imo has changed from a football topic.

She pleaded guilty because she was guilty. Rioting and.inciting to rioting have always been severely punished in this country as the Swansea rioters found out.

She was reckless and did not even have the facts .

UK is an Institutional monarchy which is deeply unpopular with many people. I understand that if I started or encouraged rioting I would expect to be severely punished.

Facebook and other social media are banned in China. We have free speech but have to be careful.

I regard the Bristol city fans in Cardiff city centre as rioters with ethnic hatred on the agenda. SWP waved them along and Cardiff city complained about unkind things sang about Vincent Tan. In France or Turkiye the yobs would gave some bruises to reflect on.
