Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread on 10:10 - Jun 1 with 3729 views | Whiterockin | The transfer window opens today for 9 day's then closes again, will we do any business? Taken from the BBC website. The summer 2025 transfer window is, unusually, split into two parts. It will initially open on Sunday, 1 June and close nine days later. The early window allows teams participating in the Club World Cup the chance to sign players before the tournament begins. The window will reopen on Monday, 16 June, before closing on Monday, 1 September at 19:00 BST for Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership clubs.

First I've heard of Plymouth being interested in Fulton! Not a bad player to get off the wage bill (with an outgoings fee) of we can get it

Fulton will pick up another half a million here this season then walk away on a free. He will be 32 then and with a signing on fee added to his salary will probably continue to earn similar wages for a while longer elsewhere.

Personally I feel he is a better player now Grimes has gone. Sheehan used him quite a bit and our performances were improved. Is he worth his money, not in my opinion but we gave him the contract.

Fulton is a decent player. Always has been. He wouldn't have played 300+ games in the top two divisions of English football if he wasn't. Quite simply one of the most oddly hated players to have ever pulled on the shirt. Sheehan clearly rates him and he has played well now freed from the shackles of Grimes. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if he stays and plays a lot of games next season.

Opinions eh 🤷 He was a decent player, he isn't now. Next season, injuries permitting, he won't get a look in as we will have at least 4/5 decent midfielders in front of him, if fulton is in our matchday squad next season we won't be challenging for a play off place.

Mid table at best if he is a regular.

Hate is a very strong term. I certainly don't hate him, like I didn't hate Captain Grimes. But I do think we can do better. I've never doubted his attitude or professionalism, but I don't think he's gone on to become the player we'd hoped. If he stays and gives his all I'm sure he'll have 10 starts or so over the season and come on to close a number of games out, but my preference is for us to cash in (if we can) and hopefully get an upgrade.

People resent him because of the wage he is on. Not his fault the club threw silly money at him same with Fisher. I don't think he let us down as a sub under Sheehan the complete opposite in fact. I would like to shift him because I don't think he offers value for money but if he stays that's ok as well.

Fulton was the shackles of Grimes. Grimes clearly needed players making runs, finding space and demanding the ball around him. It’s why he always looked so much better when Allen played and why he’s done well so far, a few yards further forward, at Coventry. Without that, he just looked up, saw no options and wasted his passing ability by recycling it. That’s not to say I don’t rate Fulton, I think he’s a good player, he just doesn’t have Grimes’ ability and wasn’t a great midfield partner for him. With the new owners seemingly having a bit more desire to improve our squad, I think he’s maybe one of the lads who may find it tougher to get games (if he stays). I’d put Cullen and Cooper in that bracket too. Yates and Kukharevych will probably go and I’d imagine we’d sign a first choice and use Vipotnik mainly as an impact sub.

Odd that Fulton didn't shackle O'Brien or Franco though. When your midfield is rubbish with two players in it, and then one of those goes and your midfield improves, it doesn't make much sense to claim that the one who stayed was the problem. Grimes was holding us back no matter who he played alongside yet for some reason people blamed (and still do apparently) Fulton for that fact.

It will be interesting to see if anyone matches his pay here or comes close. I can't see him going unless they do and certainly not if a fee is involved. Possibly we will let him go on a free to save wages and he will get a signing on fee. Otherwise I can't see the figures working.

Indeed. He's not going to get what he's on here somewhere else. I can see what you suggest taking place. We'll take a lower fee to free up the wages, buying club can offer him closer to what he's on here. His wages are probably the main reason why we're looking to move him on. Sheehan used him often enough last season to suggest that he's more than happy with what he can provide on the pitch, but we could probably add two players to the squad for the same amount. We seem to have quite a few midfielders coming in some will need to go. I expect Parker and Lloyd to go out on loan, Cooper probably move on and there's the likes of Congreve coming back to make a decision on.

It's a shame Cooper never really kicked on. I like his tenacity and willingness to run himself into the ground, but the lack of technical quality in his game is getting harder to ignore. I think he'd do quite well a division below, but is nothing more than a squad player for us, and that may be pushing it long term. I'd get Sam Parker out on loan until Christmas at least. Needs a good run of 15-20 games under his belt. Cam Congreve had a good year with Bromley but he's 22 next birthday. Really needs to have a strong pre-season if he's not going to be loaned out again. Ben Lloyd I'll admit I don't know much about.

It's a strange one when we are talking about Cooper possibly being moved on when he is in the Wales squad. Similarly Congreve who is with the Wales u21s.

Being an International is no guarantee of quality, especially when the pool to select from is as shallow as the Wales one. There's at least three League One players in the most recent squad.

Williams questioned why Cooper hadn't progressed after Williams was first here, lack if coaching from Martin which could be said about William attitude to the players, you are good enough to learn by yourself but if the style is so kamikaze as William he was never going to learn in a team that was floundering, surprised Cooper got in the Welsh team, perhaps Bellamy and Sheehan see a player they can help develop?
