Franco 19:01 - May 29 with 2360 views | GVJack | Hopefully no truth in it, but just seen a post on Twitter (yes I'm still going to call it that) that Franco is attracting attention from Sporting CP. States they've made a 10m bid. They do also quote Swansea as being an 'English Club' so the accuracy of the post has already lost some credibility for me. If true though, 10m would be very hard to turn down and would not be able to stop the player wanting to take that opportunity if it came knocking.

Franco on 22:00 - May 29 with 1985 views | Dr_Winston | Clearly there will be people looking at Franco. He's played too well for there not to be. Is anyone going to be convinced enough to part with the kind of cash that would make it worth our while to sell? Maybe, maybe not. Given the renewed sense of purpose about the club, and the suggestion that we've committed nigh on £5m to bring Inoussa in ourselves, it would be something of a turnup if we accepted anything less than double that for someone who is already a key player in the Brave New World that we're building.

I think it would depend on how they would plan to re-invest that 10m? With Montague on board, he may already be aware of players with similar traits at lower cost? Could bring in another 2/3 decent squad players with that sort of money. I do tend to agree though, given he's contracted to 2028, is currently on cheap wages and has established himself as a mainstay in the starting XI I think it would take something more around the 13m+ to temp us to sell.

Every player we have is for sale at the right price, I just believe with the current regime that price is higher than it used to be. [Post edited 29 May 22:07]

Every player will have their price. I disagree that the previous incumbents sold "on the cheap" though. Huw Jenkins traded Ben Davies and Michel Vorm to Spurs for Gylfi Sigurdsson in a deal valued at £10m the same Summer that Man Utd paid £27m for Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw is no Ben Davies. That deal stank then and stinks even worse now. Kaplan and Co generally held out for top dollar, whether that was Gylfi, McBurnie, Rodon, Dan James or whoever.

Wasn't it HJ who got us £15 million for Dan James by accidentally leaving his phone off ? Kaplan and Levein were happy for him to go on loan to Leeds with a price of £4 million only if they got promoted.

Personally I don't buy for a second the idea that the same Huw Jenkins who caved in negotiations time and time again suddenly had a Road to Damascus type conversion and decided to play hardball for once. There's always been a hell of a lot more to that story than the "Huw saved us from the same people he sold the club to" line IMO.

There is most certainly an element of truth in that. But the deal was 10M. At that moment in time Huw was at loggerheads with Kaplan and Levien. He knew that James could be sold for far more. But I would suggest on this occasion he didn’t let the sale go through for a variety of reasons. The fact it didn’t go through should suggest to many that it was his refusal to close the deal that led to this not being completed. Phone on or off. It was down to Huw that it didn’t proceed.

The Davies deal to Spurs was outstanding work. " Was valued at " by whom? . As a Swap Gylfi must have " been valued at" by someone at £11m or so. Born hardly ever played for Spurs From a PFP point of view Davies was zilch. He could have run his deal down like CR17 did and Swansea pick up £3m.Instaed they got a £45m footballer.

We will hear of this speculation throughout the summer. This is agent talk though. But if the Swans don’t get proper inquiries for him I would be very surprised. In fact I would include a number of players, even Ronald.

Ben Davies now being heavily linked with a move to Wrexham.

"Huw Jenkins was the hero of the hour" says Huw Jenkins. The same Huw Jenkins who was the very model of veracity when it came to his dealings in 2016.

Franco on 19:15 - May 30 with 752 views | sons_of_omri | We’d be mental to sell one of the best midfielders in the championship for £10 million. 20-25 million and that’s a nailed on but 10 million is just giving him away

A reasonable price for a championship midfielder. We would do well to get more for Franco if he was to leave. As always the detail would be in the add ons.
