Swansea City Centre 13:22 - May 31 with 2211 views | Landore_Jack | What a disgrace the town centre has become. The council should hang their heads in shame. Yes, they are not responsible for online shopping but over the decades they have ruined the town centre with ridiculous vanity projects. Castle Square, Kingsway (Bendy Bus), former St Davids Shopping Centre, and the David Evans redevelopment. The town centre has become a no go zone was drug addicts everywhere. I didn't see any police. Too busy enforcing the 20 MPH speed limit (most probably).

Swansea City Centre on 17:21 - May 31 with 1275 views | SullutaCreturned | 3 years ago I was working on the town centre and it was quita bad then. I went to central to report a dickhead on a motorbike speeding through the pedestrianised area and doing doing donuts but castle square. I'd filmed it. To say I didn't get an enthusiastic response would be understating it, they didn't even ask me to send them the video. O walked back through and waited a while to see if anybody came, 20 mins later the back had come through again but not a police person in sight. Some crimes they don't even bother with. And yes drug addicts everywhere.

Swansea City Centre on 17:58 - May 31 with 1228 views | Togg | Run a business in Swansea city centre for over 16 years. Got out about 15 years ago...don't miss it one bit. Really dislike going into town. However on a positive note, I think the Marina and SA1 are nice. The jewels in the crown though are Mumbles and Gower. Not many cities could boast those fantastic areas. Yes property prices are high but not compared to some areas of England. I know loads of Saes and Welsh who have sold across the border and now live in these areas with a few bob to spare.
Swansea City Centre on 18:01 - May 31 with 1224 views | raynor94 | In fairness the Kingsway development looks excellent, the new library won't be long and with an upgrade on castle gardens things are looking promising. But the big downer as been mentioned are the druggies frequenting the centre, the Rangers are no good they ignore it, time for the police to move in and clear them out

Spoke to someone who has moved to Mumbles from Cardiff and said Cardiff has become a right dodgy shirt hole. Just quoting what he said .

Swansea City Centre on 20:18 - May 31 with 1082 views | lifelong | The city centre is no worse than it has been for quite a few years, if anything the Kingsway has been much improved. When I’m home I visit the city centre at least once a week to attend the market which I enjoy, what the city needs desperately is a business to take over the empty Debenhams premises, something like a John Lewis would be ideal, can’t see it happening though.

The council recently announced that the former Debenhams has been sold to 3 major outlets one a sports company who will be taking over the top floor ,this is planned to open early next year.Lots of work to be done but with the proposed removal of that shite hole castle square then it's beginning to become somewhere to visit. It'll never return to it's former glory as a shopping outlet because of online shopping so it's having to adapt, not to everyone's taste.Maybe if more people took pride in where they live then perhaps it wouldn't like a council tip, having just spent a week in the Normandy area and with previous experiences of visiting France all I can say we really are a nation of litter droppers .

Over 20,000 graduate and post graduate students at Swansea University this is the market now for the city centre. Between servicing the students and entertainment/hospitality sector the evenings are very different to daytime. Times are changing, the days of city centre shopping are gone and we need to move forward, possibly encourage more offices as major forces in this sector seem to have gone [tax office ect], this would bring more life in the daytime.

The problem isn't the area itself it's the people who frequent it. there are too many homeless people, druggies and various down and outs. Then you have the delivery cyclists on their electric bikes that are a constant hazard to pedestrians, people on electric scooters that are also dangerous. The buildings, the area, a lot of work is being done.

The market is a shadow of its former self though, since covid peoples habits have changed, online has ruined many town centres, the plans that are being worked on at least look promising though.

I have to disagree about the market it's thriving I visit there three times a week, it has everything from fresh fruit and veg fish and some fantastic Thai and Greek food, and superb butchers. It's busier than ever

Swansea City Centre on 00:29 - Jun 1 with 781 views | Robbie | Avoid Swansea City Centre if I can , sometimes need to call into HSBC as a last resort . True , the zombies from Castle Gardens to that Pawn Shop on Oxford St, are an eyesore . But people are still willing to visit Swansea on their shopping days out , footfall from what I could see was still a lot of potential customers . Label Neath and Swansea Market together , both an attraction and good news stories but both areas lert down by druggies and lack of investment to make them a go to choice . Marks and Sparks have withdrawn from both centres recently , a named establishment doing a runner to be replaced by phone shops and Charity shops .

Admittedly it's been 3 years since I went in the market so if its improved again then great. I used to walk through it several times a week and there were many empty stalls and empty shops. With so many businesses going out of townor even just clsoing, it's good to hear the old place is fighting back.
