When you read the story it seems very heavy handed, that is why I ask is there more to it, young ladies having tea and biscuits in a Quaker House and then the way they were treated afterwards its concerning. | |

Because it was a Quaker House, anybody that knows their history will know they are pacifist, non violent types, the people using the meeting house might or might not have been Quakers but it was in a Quaker House and the young people's group are also said to be a non violent group.
They had advertised online what their meeting was about and if the police had knocked the door they would have invited them in for a cuppa, but the police broke the door down and about 30 of them raided the Quaker House, these were young women that was cuffed and locked up for hours.
My first thoughts were who ordered this, how high up did it go, it seemed awful heavy handed and like the above article says if the state is going for people in a Quaker meeting House you know you have got problems when the people detained were just chatting and having a biscuit. It could be argued that this puts the general public at danger from preventing access of the fire service and ambulances.
The subjects were both man made Climate change and the Gaza genocide.
Trampie is completely correct in showing concern for the heavy handed actions of the Met Police. The Police argue that is it the demonstrators who have increased the heavy handedness them selves. Another concern is the possible disproportionate influence of certain ethnic / religious groups in British policing ffairs.
It is a valid thread and posters should comment on the issues not attack personalities as trolls.This is lacking in tolerance and class imo [Post edited 31 May 18:44]

A Quaker House is where the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) often meet to worship, not that I know much about religion but it's like a church, chapel or cathedral in as much as its a place of worship but is very basic and often looks like an ordinary house. | |
