Are we developing some form of fetish for goalies ?
We seem to be hoarding them like never before and whilst I understand there may be future value, it’s not exactly the best position to invest in if they never get to play much and most of them don’t with only one place in each team.
I find it somewhat confusing as a strategy but I am easily confused - like most goalies and wicket keepers.
Show me the light and the way, brothers.
Solidarity, Reg .
Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?
As far as I can see, we have one 1st team keeper plus a reserve, 3 in the Dev Squad (be lucky if one of them comes through at this level) and a teenager.
Assuming that the last four are being paid the amount you'd expect, it doesn't worry me. It's not exactly Rob Green and Cesar levels of idiocy. Would actually leave us short if we had the sort of crazy injuries we had in Warburton's last season.
More concerned about the plethora of midget No 10s (a category that I am keen on, but there's only room for one in any starting XI)
You say that but about 2 years ago we managed to get through 6 keepers in the space of about 2 months! Even needed an emergency loan.
We also killed most of our ‘strikers’ and defenders to death this year but we don’t have 7 strikers and that’s where the transfer value would be greater. They also have more options to play on more positions and should get more game time.
Feels like we have accumulated goalies because they are cheap or free but only one can play per game so what do we do with the rest of them ? They hardly ever come on as a sub so I’m a bit bemused as to why you need so many.
Just seems a little odd unless you are attempting to corner the market in that position with a ‘net’ or ‘clutch’ of ‘keepers. Whatever their plurality is in this throughly modern and fascinating world that we live in.

Seven keepers is probably too much, but not by many maybe.
For a keepers' session to be high-paced with lots of reps and lots of variety two or three keepers is ideal. We're running two teams so that's four to six keepers, plus one or two should be out on loan to continue their development.
Before long, you're at six or seven keepers.

Maybe preparing for a combination of sale, release and loan(s) then, Brian ?

Think we have been at sixes and sevens for some time and it has nothing to do with our keepers
