Went there as 1st pub of my ST renewal pub crawl.
Only 1 ale - Oxford Gold but it was fine. Not the greatest selection of beers, but lovely scotch egg and chips. Nice atmosphere, quite full for lunchtime. Really good jazzy & bluesy music on sound system. Even a piano(!). I played a few things but an American bloke told me I was playing all the wrong notes.
Rest of crawl - worst ever. Askew no ale, Andover closed,Thatched only duff Pride, Prisoner of War, 4 ales, all of which I had to take back. Hammersmith Belle, previous posters were correct, hell on earth.
Spoons came to the rescue.

Saved by a 'spoons. I want to give you a hug for trying. You deserve better.

Ironically, my local rugby team, who won promotion to the second tier of French rugby last season, are holding a ST holders event at a local winery. Where we can renew with 10% off and sample accordingly. It's been designated a Mrs PH driving night.

Reminds me of that classic Milton Jones joke: Incredible to think isn’t it, that every single Scotsman, started off as a scotch egg. Old and gingery.

My local rugby team, Cahors, (albeit, I am only a part-timer in France) is playing the Finale of Federale 2 today. I am hoping to watch on YouTube with my French neighbour, who could not get to the match at Issoire. I shall be passionate about the rugby for 80 minutes, then drift back into the annual pre-season optimism for QPR.

Bonne chance mon ami.

I hope the weather is more forgiving than down here. Its been high 30s for over a week now, with early 40s coming next week. Already into the fire season down here.

Lovely house lager, especially at 32degrees outside, and am assured the IPA tasted good. Food was pretty awesome, though not cheap. Amazed how busy it was on a Monday lunch time. Scotch egg starter, Chicken Milanese, ice cream ….. no dinner 6 pints between us. Staff really friendly

So unsure if that is a joke but 434 Uxbridge Road just past Queen Adelaide, definitely staggering distance to HQ

My wife & I hoping to go next Tues. apparently the owners have another couple of pubs in the Cotswolds.
Our cleaner has been there thrice and says it's very impressive.

Well, I know…but the wife and I are struggling a bit, so she thought we'd try it.
Lovely lady from Ethopia originally. We pay the agency a subsription and pay the lady in cash.
We always pay her above the minimum.
I think you may be surprised at how many people have a cleaner these days., I know a few.

went in there a couple of days after it opened, the bar at the back was only allowed for people eating, the front bar, entrance on the corner, was rammed, kids, dogs, prams, etc.
standing room only, couple of tables outside.
walked out, ended up in the askew.

hope the drinks were worth it.

On the subject of pubs, I've heard the Adelaide has closed down. Any truth in this?

The Coningham and Askew are gonna get a bit more crowded at this rate
