Wimbledon 11:59 - Jun 27 with 955 views | Whiterockin | Emma Raducanu has been drawn against Mimi Xu from Swansea in the first round. A very talented 17 year old. Good luck Mimi.
Wimbledon on 13:34 - Jun 27 with 858 views | Togg | It will be a real step up in class for Mimi provided Raducanu is not injured again. Since Raducanu won the US open she's been very disappointing. In fact you can argue that her career has gone backwards. Still even though some think she was very fortunate to win the US that particular year. It was still an amazing achievement. Financially with her contracts outside Tennis she probably won't need to work again. Let's hope Mimi plays well and you never know. It would be a brilliant achievement if she could get that win! It is a big step up for her and it will probably be on a show court. Although she has played at Wimbledon before this will be an "in the public eye" appearance where the pressure will be much more than she is used to. Hopefully she will revel in it and put in a good performance.
Wimbledon on 14:49 - Jun 27 with 776 views | trampie | Although going from being a top junior to a top senior is not guaranteed it is a KPI (as some business types might say). Mimi has done well this grass court season and is not witjout a small squeak against Emma but Britain has another two even better female prospects based on their junior careers, one won the US open juniors and one made the French open juniors final, I watched the youngest of the 3 a couple of times now and when she was 14 she looked like an 18 or 19 year old and looked better to me than Raducanu did at the same age, no guarantees but Britain certainly has hopes that these girls could reach the top one day.

It would be great for Tennis in the UK if any of these girls could go on and complete at the top. It's such a hard sport to succeed in and the top players are really an elite. With the popularity of Padel Tennis and Pickleball (5 Padel Courts in Swansea now) with rumour of more to be built in other parts of the City. Tennis has real competition. Although I know people who play both Tennis and Padel.

One of them, pickleball I think but maybe wrong, was the fastest growing sport in both the UK and the world recently. Both hugely popular.

I watched a bit of her games recently and she has the ability but easily starts to fall apart with pressure, strangely enough when in a winning position. She’s mentally atrocious and needs help to sort this out, her father is a control freak though allegedly so she doesn’t keep a coach for more than a few tournaments at a time. She will never win another slam and with her brittle body - ankles, wrists, back etc. - she’ll probably not win a ranking tournament either.

I don't really know Blaenymaes, Clase, Townhill, Mayhill, Penlan and Bonymaen, just got a vague idea of where they are. Oh and I hadn't heard of Brynmelyn at all, I knew where Dyffaty flats and the Hafod were but not the place that was shown on the Central podcast thing that they called Brynmelyn.

Of course I've been to the Liberty stadium, this is a Swans messageboard I would have thought most posters on here have been to the Liberty stadium.

How's life down mumbles Uni? not been down for a while, don't know when I'll go down again mate here tomorrow changing my bay window and away up in Hereford next weekend helping my butty out. Had a job down Langland yesterday and that's the closest I've been to Mumbles for a while. lovely house to overlooking Langland bay job was a proper headache though sorted it in the end, through pure resilience

I actually live in Langland not far from Mumbles. It’s fine here, I really like it. As you know I was in Southgate before and although really nice, I prefer it here. Let me know when you fancy a jar or two down here and we’ll meet up.

It’s in Treboeth, not far from the Eagle. Try Pickleball then, available in places you know.
Wimbledon on 07:15 - Jun 28 with 328 views | Togg | Have to agree with the post about Emma's physical and mental strength not being strong enough. On Mumbles...I enjoy the odd pint of Mahou in the Mumbles Ale House. 🍻
