Emma Raducanu has been drawn against Mimi Xu from Swansea in the first round. A very talented 17 year old. Good luck Mimi.

I’ve just caught up with the score. Bid of a surprise I must say. Good on her!

Top effort by Raducanu fair play, the best she has played since winning the US Open 4 years ago.

I didn't like Xu attitude trying to whip the crowd up when she thought she was going to win.

A couple of points of order today Kartal should have given the point/game/set to Pavlyuchenkova, her coach should have told her to do it if she did not know it was out but I suspect she did know as she was in the forecourt.
Luckily for all concerned Pavlyuchenkova went on to win the set.

Norrie bouncing and bouncing the ball before hitting his second serve - if it was deliberate and I have not seen him do it before, then if that was the case that was bad sportsmanship.

Well, she thought right - she did win!!

Why shouldn't she whip the crowd up??

She's playing in front of her home crowd!!

I didn't think it was very sporting, she didn't win when she seemed to think she was going to win either, she went on to win at a different juncture.

She's a young girl mate . 17 years old. For the first time in the real spotlight. Two years ago she was still hitting in Ashleigh Road. It's an individual sport. You're out there on your own. If she'd had had being playing an American girl in the States believe me the home crowd would have been far more vociferous.

So ... "she seemed to think she was going to win" - when she was only 3-1 up in the final set??

I've been cheering for a non American against an American out there in a big match, I know what they are like.

Same old England always cheating song comes to mind, I haven't seen much of Norrie recently but he didn't use to take so long between points in the past did he ?, so was it deliberate to put his opponent off ?

Talking of sportsmanship (or womanship) I think the Russian lady Pavlyuchenkova conducted herself superbly against the home player when the ball was out but the automatic call system had not been switched on, she would have won the set on that point but it was replayed and she lost the point but she did eventually go on to win the set thankfully.
Even Tracy Austin in commentary said she was known to keep her cool and she would have struggled herself in that circumstance.

Great news Ranger. I just think it's amazing to have a Welsh Swansea girl doing so well in a difficult sport to succeed in . 🎾

Into the last 8 tomorrow playing Tagger 3rd seed.

In the main event both the Men and Women's winners get £3M. That's a fair wedge.

Tagger beat Xu in straight sets in the Australian girls, Tagger beat Klugman two and love in the French open girls final and I thought last year Klugman was going to be the best of the young British 3 (she is the youngest) although US open winner Mika did beat Klugman surviving match points I believe to win the British girls indoors I think.
Perhaps Tagger hasn't seen a grass court until this season who knows as she is an Austrian living in Italy.

I looked at the draw at the start of Wimbledon girls and without checking again so Xu (who did beat proper pros in the warm up tournaments prior to Wimbledon) will have to beat #3 seed Tagger in the Quarters, fellow Brit #2 Klugman in the semis and #1 Jones in the final if the seeds keep on winning.
