Saints shirt in Pompey 12:12 - Jun 29 with 2142 viewscocklebreath

Daughter has a dance competition in Portsmouth today, my 12 year old son is insisting on wearing his Saints shirt, I’ve told him to expect abuse he’s excited.
Is this a bad idea?

A dance competition in Portsmouth, you say?

The winner will be somebody who just stands there and bellows "BLUE ARMY" I'm afraid.

I wouldn't travel with high expectation of victory.

Sorry.

Poll: Would you be happy with Rishi Sunak as a new Saints owner?

Brave lad! Of course, I expect it may well scupper any chances your daughter has of winning.

Kate Aidie is available to ride shotgun on the way home if you need her services…

Please let us all know how it goes.

THE Kate Adie?
There's a name....we were on the first flight out of Libya (oil & Gas work) after Reagan had bombed Gadaffi in 1986 flying Libyan Arab Airlines (dry flight of course). We boarded with 'doctored' cans of Coke (2mm hole drilled in the bottom, Coke drained out, refilled with 'flash' (which was manufactured in the desert with water, sugar, yeast and a still) with a syringe, then a blob of solder over the hole. When they served soft drinks, in went the flash and we were well away. Kate and a TV crew were on the flight along with John Snow having been reporting on the bombing in Tripoli. After a while she came down the back where we were, and said 'You're all pissed, how have you managed that?" We replied, "F & T" (flash and tonic) would you like one? She sat straight down in a spare seat and went for it. I remember asking her after her second large one to call John Snow down for a drink - "oh no" she said. "he's just a boring b*stard".
Good girl, Kate, Newcastle fan as I Remember.

Strolled round after competition along southsea front unchallenged and to top it all off I saw no Pompey shirts and another young Saints fan in his shirt. His dad and I exchanged nods😇

His four fingers and a thumb on each hand will confuse them long enough for you to make your escape 👍

Saw many dozens of Saints shirts at the IOW Festival last week, and only 2 Skates shirts.

I remember being down near Port Solent Tesco several years ago when a bloke in a red and white striped shirt was accosted by an overweight woman in tow with a skinny runt of a bloke who came running up to support her in her shouts of 'Scummer'.
The fellow in the shirt took one step forward and laid out the skinny bloke and threatened to do the same to the lardy woman.
Since then I have had a grudging respect for Sunderland fans

Brilliant!!
I remember going to St James Park one year and for some reason ended up in a Newcastle pub but wearing colours (yellow mind), and were welcomed with opem arms. We were however reminded that the welcome may not have been the same if we'd worn the stripes!

Good story, well remembered; that’s one up on the Celtic fans injecting oranges with vodka to beat the alcohol ban in the seating areas when it was first introduced.

I remember going up to Sheffield very soon after the alcohol ban on trains came in if you were going to football. My g/f at the time was a Spurs ST holder and got tickets for their FA Cup S/F v Wolves at Hillsborough. Booze ban in place, just about everyone smuggled booze onto the train, those fairly flat half or quarter bottles of bacardi or vodka seemed popular. It was old compartment stock so people took it in turns to be lookouts in the corridor and if the onboard police came along they’d start up a song! Worked a treat and by the time we got to Sheffield more people were half bladdered than sober. One of the S.Yorks cops on the platform that was helping to heard us all towards the waiting buses said to one of the London cops from the train “Didn’t you lot get t’memo? This lot look like they’re as pissed as parrots!”

Not as good as your story but it’s all I’ve got 🙂

All stories are good and that's a great one.

Because the Skates have been so shite of late, out of the Prem for 15 years and have languished in 3rd and 4th tiers for the 13 of those 15 years, none of the local youngsters support them as their main team any more. It is Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and they quite like Pompey as their 2nd team, as they are the local team.

We recently went to Gun Wharf (early May) to take my parents up the Spinnaker Tower. The football shirts seen that day were Man Utd x 1, Chelsea x 1, Bournemouth x 1 and Southampton x 1 (and it was that awful pink effort FFS !!).

There was a Stag Do on Social Media about 4 weeks ago.
A group of about 15 Saints fans going to Prague.
14 of them wearing Saints Shirts
The Groom-to-be for his punishment, was in a Pompey shirt
