Kelman 15:58 - Jun 29 with 6748 viewsdavman

He'll probably have had a few threads a while back, but on the back of the alleged WBA and Soton interest, where do we stand? For me, if he will not sign a new contract, anything north of £4m should be accepted.

Personally I'd like to him sign an extension with a review point next summer, but that is not in his favour, so why would he sign?

I think we will sell, but that may not be a bad thing as alleged selling clubs HAVE to sell once in a while. It will leave as short up front (last season's 4 as a collective were poor), but money needs to start coming in.

Thoughts?

£4m on a player who has had one good season in League 1 and has 12 months left on his contract. Sorry, not going to happen.

If he signs a new deal, then OK, if not sell him for what we can get with a big % sell on.
The ball is most definitely in his court.

I'd keep Kelman and get what we can for Celar, at least we know Kelman will put the effort in, and, is much more likely to score than Celar.

I thought we only got £1.5m for Armstrong. Possibly with addons £2m.

Anyway, if Orient were the only buyers then it would be £2m for Kelman, but if its clubs like WBA and Sheff United, then yep we could get £4m.

I would take anything over £2m as I am not convinced he's good enough. We should have bought Josh Coburn off Boro for £5m if we knew could sell Kelman. Anyway, that has gone now.

£2.5m + £1m adds and 20% of profit sell on. Shamrock Rovers got £600k from 25% sell on.

Celar has scored more goals for QPR than Kelman who got a big fat ZERO.

How many games/ minutes was Celar given to get his?I don't gamble, but if I did I'd rather waste a £10 on Kelman having a better goals per minutes than Celar. In the many games I saw Celar, he looked barely arsed.

Got to agree with Esox on this one; Celar really was either dog awful or could not be arsed last season. A forty minute spell over two games aside he was utterly abject over 18 games. Now that could be because he was a Nourry signing that Marti didn't rate, which might make some difference, but on the evidence of last season Kelman must be a better bet...

If Kelman won't sign then then he has to go. I wouldn't be busting the bank to keep a player who has had one decent season in League 1, and if we can get decent money, then great.
I'd like him to stay and be given a chance as after the loan he deserves it, I've said this several times, but he will be sold if he won't sign. My preference is he stays, but Celar would still be my 1st choice.

Saito, meh. 6 goal involvements in 39 games is a poor return. Why would the club spend decent money on him? If we can get him cheap as a backup great. Not sure City Group would allow that.

Marti. He's gone we've all moved on.

It would be nice to keep Kelman to see if he could build on his scoring exploits last season. It would be good if Celar could pick up where he left off at Cardiff. But, hey, we've secured our one genuine out-and-out goal scorer at this level, so with Dunne staying, I think we can all calm the fck down!

It would be nice to keep Kelman. The whole point of loaning our younger players, is for their development, to give them game time and more experience. It would be a real success story if he came back, played on form and score a few goals for us. He's a QPR player. Doesn't feel quite right to capitalise on a impressive season in L1 and sell to the highest bidder. To me anyway.

for context

Kelman has started 5 games for QPR, 3 of them as a winger
Celar started 12 games

But Kelman has been involved in 23 games for us, Didn't do well on loan at Wigan, Gillingham or Orient first time round. Also he is 24 in November so no longer a youngster. If we can get a few million off the back of one good season we should take it.

He has, a lot of those as sub late in games and alot of those loan spells he played out wide

I just think we are depserate for a forward who can score goals and we have one on our books and are likely to now lose him due to his contract situation, which we are not meant to know about, I do get why we'd take the money just think it's a shame

Also find it mad the number of people on here and social media who are now talking up Celar

How many poor loans did Ferdinand have before it all clicked for him at BeÅŸiktaÅŸ?

He had one loan before Besiktas. 3 games for Brentford. Probably not even enough to constitute a 'poor loan'. So None is the answer.
