1. First record you bought with your own money? The Jam-Going Underground
2. First gig you went to that you paid for? Howard Jones, Henry Beaufort School Winchester, 1985 (50p!)
3. Best gig ever? No idea, for the occasion and the people I was with, The Stone Roses reunion, but Ian Brown can't be the singer at the best gig!
4. Have you ever left a gig because the artist/band was not up to it? Left Oasis early in 2009 at Wembley as couldnt be arsed fighting the crowds and they weren't all that at the time
5. Present favourite band/song. The Beatles 🙂 (of people who release music now, Michael Head, Paul Heaton or Half Man Half Biscuit)
6. I would never go to see XXX because? Any live music has merits, but I have never been able to appreciate hip hop/rap

I'm not embarrassed to say that the very first single I bought was Needles & Pins by The Searchers.
My first live Gig was the late John Miles on his " More Miles per Hour " tour.
He was absolutely brilliant so underrated & his single " Music" is a timeless classic.

1. First record you bought with your own money?

2. First gig you went to that you paid for?
- Prodigy in Brighton in 1993

3. Best gig ever?
- Bit random, but Moby at Knebworth. He was a supporting act, but the sun was setting behind the stage and it was just "right"

4. Have you ever left a gig because the artist/band was not up to it?
- Elbow at V Festival, I went home, boring

5. Present favourite band/song

6. I would never go to see XXX because?
- No idea what XXX are? Is that my answer? "Because I don't know who they are?"

I'm not THAT into music.

1. First record you bought with your own money?
Jeepster by T Rex & Meet me on the corner by Lindisfarne January 1972

2. First gig you went to that you paid for?
First gig was Slade supported by Sensational Alex Harvey band June/July 1973, my mum paid though, can't remember what one I paid for out of my own money as such.

3. Best gig ever?
Hard to pick just one, 1970's was probably that Slade one, 80's Echo & the Bunnymen Royal Albert Hall 1983 or New Order & The Smiths G Mex Manchester 1986, 90's could be Stone Roses at Spike Island, that was a good event but a terrible gig, with poor facilities and a terrible sound, so probably The Farm London ICA 1990, just before they broke big, or The Sunday at Reading Festival in 1993, New Order, The Boo Radleys and a host of other bands, 00's it all became a bit of a blur and my gig going went down a bit, Ian Prowse was probably my most seen artist

4. Have you ever left a gig because the artist/band was not up to it?
I saw the Happy Mondays several times in the 80's 90's and never saw the end of a show, they were awful live.
5. Present favourite band/song
Much like Wints, Michael Head, Half Man Half Biscuit, all acts going 40 years but making decent music better than the manufactured cr*p of today's acts.

6. I would never go to see XXX because?
Shed loads I would never go to see because they are awfu, probably Oasis because of the ticket pricing they instigated, just a total rip off and when they publicly sneer at their fans who complain . they are probably a band who care little for their fans just money, it says everything about their song output, that they played only one song written this century in their opening gig at Cardiff.

Great stuff here.

My first record was Knock on wood by Dave Stewart - still got it.

First gig was T Rex in Bristol. Went on a coach from Salisbury and wondered why most of the passengers were hammered before we got to Bristol and why we had to stop numerous times on the way back for a vomit fest.

Best gig? Kasabian at Brixton Academy before the PC brigade forced Tom Meighan to leave.

I left a Celo Green gig because he was terrible. Also left a Clash gig I had taken my brother to - and regretted it ever since.

I listen to everything and have a number of favs. Keen on Sofi Tucker's dance tunes (for spinning classes); Drew Holcombe and the Neighbours and Find Your People. Benson Boone, etc. Find as I get older that I'm going into more obscure artists.

Coldplay obvs. Snow Patrol (have they ever made a happy song?). U2 - over rated and pretentious. Any bubblegum artist and any boy band.

1. Unbelievable by EMF (all those people listing cool groups are lying I reckon)

2. Pink Floyd, Earls Court 1994

3. Kasabian at Victoria Park Leicester in 2014 or Prodigy at Brixton Academy last year

4. Had to leave a RatPack (D&B) performance in Southsea back in the 90's early due to a massive fight kicking off with the group I was with and some locals.

5. I tend to go in phases and re-visit older acts. Saw Primal Scream 2 or 3 months ago and have been listening to a lot of their stuff again recently. Struggling a bit with new bands these days. The K's are decent and I quite like Wunderhorse

6. Kneecap or any other act that thinks they're at a political rally and throw all that Free Palestine, fvck the Tories bollox constantly down your throat. When the music becomes secondary, it's a big no no for me. Just sing your songs ffs.
