World Club Cup Final on 18:46 - Jul 14 with 699 views | charmr | That trophy ceremony with those 2 muppets getting involved possibly the most cringeworthy thing I’ve ever seen. Games gone as far as I’m concerned. That is the future.

World Club Cup Final on 16:18 - Jul 14 by Konk | The Saudis have bankrolled the whole tournament through investing $1bn in DAZN, which then spent that $1bn for the rights to the tournament, and made all games free to air. Infantino makes a complete transparent mockery of the World cup rotation and bidding process to award Saudi the World cup in 2034, and in return, they finance Infantino's project and get their clubs access to major European clubs in competitive football. To me, this looks to be partly about normalizing intercontinental club football, probably as an opportunity to get Saudi clubs playing big European clubs rather than pi ssing about in a league that no-one in the wider world cares about. If a European Super league were to happen, then I would be very surprised in the Saudis didn't try and get involved. That would solve the issue they have with players in their prime opting to stay in Europe for 1/10th of what they could be earning in Saudi. Unfortunately, money talks, and the Saudis have more than most, and are happy to pay whatever, to whoever, to get their way. Also interesting that of all the properties in NYC, FIFA make the politically-divisive decision to open an office in Trump Tower. |
It's definitely a continuation of the Gulf states' sportswashing at the top level. It's replaced Infantino's silent pushing of and maybe orchestration of the European Super League attempt. Essentially after that failed he's decided to do away with puppeteering Florentino Pérez and Joan Laporta and instead plough ahead with it himself. The bald knut knows full well he can do whatever he wants because he holds the FIFA purse strings (so won't get voted out) and he has the full backing of the petrostates as long as he keeps giving them what they demand. The whole thing's fuxxing disgusting

I'd honestly never heard of DAZN before this nonsense started and spent the last fortnight wondering how and why on God's green earth they'd ponied up $1bn for the rights to a tournament not even Amazon Prime were bothered to bid for and then stream it for free. This now makes a lot of sense.

They been around a few years. Them and Saudis have already annexed boxing so don't s'pose it'll be long til they creep into football. Initially I was quite pleased that Sky's footy stranglehold had been broken but today it seems too fragmented and state-sponsored. A right mess. My flash Smart TV is running out of RAM space cos of too many apps already. Ultimately there's miles too much footy being broadcast, dunno where it's all leading. Be interesting to see how long it is before the Saudis can turn the heads of The Prem or Ceferin. Lord knows where plebs like us in the EFL will end up, probably on Sunday mornings on Dave TV...
World Club Cup Final on 21:09 - Jul 15 with 208 views | Esox_Lucius | I have seen 2 different reports,1 from The Guardian, that the winners have only received a replica of the trophy as 47 has decreed the real trophy will be displayed on his desk in the WH. Has anyone else seen this story? Is it true?

He won’t want the replica because you cannot get gold paint that looks like gold.
