I thought Sam Parlker looked ok and so did Lissah when he came on, he had some energy and got stuck in.

I thought the ref was poor besides the 3 disallowed goals the second of which I was convinced was good. I've heard different reasons why it wasn't given, offisde in front of the player who scored (obstruting goalies view) a foul and even someone claimed the linesman said the ball had gone straight out and curled back in. What was the official reason?

A lot of the time you wouldn't have guessed we were the higher placed team ut such are pre-season friendlies. At least Vipotnik finished his chance.

I thought Ronald looked poor, Melker looked a bit lost tome and I thought possobly the best player on the pitch first half was Exeters 10 who I think is Aitchison but I guess no one wanted to get hurt, we have 2 more weeks befor Boro but Exeters first game us next week.

Or am I searching for excuses.

Lissah didn't play. Guessing you meant Wilson?

Sheehan’s persistent use of Fulton is also a concern.

Totally agree. Long past his sell by date.

Yeah sorry, was calling him Lissah all the time he was on! Anyway, he looked full of ebergy and at least he had a go. Whereas Ronald was very disappointing for me.

I'm not disagreeing but who else did he have for the CB position?

SO why not be more creastive an dgo 3 at the back with maybe 4 or 5 in midfield play to players strengths rather than get players to fit a preferred system

Poll: Should Coleman ask Curt for advice/help?

Maybe because he won't play Futlon there in the league unless there's absolutely no choice. Is he hoping Cabango will be fit or maybe there'll be a loan.

Admission, I thought Wilson was Lissah, partly because when my son looked he couldn't see a 49 on the team sheet and he said Lissah is down as 50 so maybe it's a mistake. I was too lazy to look, I was a bit busy with something else.

It is rported Cabango needs anogther scan intimating he is not comoing back soon Santos injured also so even if we get loanee CBwe will have no cover in the event of an injury surely we should be working on a sytem less reliant on 2 centre backs
If only we could have kept Naughton for another year

I read about positivity
I read it was only friendliest
Sheehan said it was a work put
Key players injured and no real pattern of play
First games against clubs who are well sorted

Just what has Sheehan been doing ?

I pray he's not another one full of shite

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Being an eternal optimist I would like to think that now Lewis O’Brien is no longer a target that:-
The club have that money earmarked on other targets
They are close to moving on some of our deadwood which again would mean fresh players coming in
A defensive loan or two are well in negotiations considering our captain and his understudy could be out for a few weeks maybe more.

One thing is for sure - Sheehan isn’t exactly having much luck on the injuries front !

The joys of pre season I know. I’m still optimistic about our season and to be fair if I was the manager I’d play all players in different combinations and decide who was staying and who I’d get rid of. The bonus would be trying players in positions they were not use to just to see how adaptable they were.

Asking the question do we have anybody other than Franco in the middle of the park who has the pace to chase the oncoming opposition player down, O'Brien had that pace and knew to wait and trust his speed before making the challenge, a player travelling with the ball at his feet does looses speed in doing so allows the closing down midfielder time to get the challenge right without committing a foul, Widell against Cheltenham tried to commit to the challenge early giving away freekicks hoping he learns to bide his time before making a challenge even just getting his body between the opposition player and the ball as O'Brien did to ensure no foul is committed and possession is regained stifling opposition's forward play.
If the defenders are marking correctly that means the opposition midfielder is lacking options in front of him meaning he could dwell on the ball, as you go higher in quality the more focused players need to be, friendlies may not be the best place to judge but we have a lot of young players but they and the coaches should be working hard getting the play right.
Williams and Martin both seemed focused on attack and possession that they lost sight on the defensive side of the game.

Based on the Cheltenham game, I thought Widdell tried to do too much at times. Jumping in early was a part of that. I’m sure it’s just eagerness to impress and something that can be smoothed over quickly. I agree he needs to be a bit cuter about when to dive in an when to hold off.

Just seen brief highlights from yesterday. Emphatic finish from Vipotnik regardless of the offside (couldn’t judge that from the camera angle). If we manage to put him in that much space regularly, he’ll do well. I don’t think we will against Championship defences though

My thoughts on yesterdays game.

Burgess looked solid throughout and will be a very good signing.

Cam Con on the wing looked very threatening throughout, definitely worth keeping in the squad.

Galbraith looked class but wish him and Franco played a bit more through the middle progressing up the pitch rather than always going out to the full backs or winger and back again.

Widell looked very busy and at times dangerous but it looked like he was frustrated by finding clever space and never being found, especially by Ronald.

Wales looked good on the right wing and played a clever pass to Key and also dropped a shoulder and drove into box in short space he was on. I recon he might end up replacing Ronald on wing with and we might get better end product.

Cullen did nothing up front but didn’t really get service and would much rather vipi there.

Didn't Wales only come on for the last 2 mins ?
