I hear your worries and can see where you're coming from, I think, but perhaps both Nourry and Marti were/are control freaks in different ways. I remember Marti, in a rare unguarded moment post-match, ill-temperedly alluding to what he'd been telling the club he wanted/they needed in a tone that suggested he was exasperated - even though he was 'only' the manager, and, if the consensus is to be indulged, moreover, in fact only a coach in a top-down managed culture.

As to Julien, he was funny, but quite meh in what he said, and I'm not sure if he'd had the mic all night, he'd have enlightened us much further. It did seem symbolic when his mic wasn't working at the start and Nourry ended up handing him his! I hoped for a bit more from him than broad-brush comments about mentality, players buying into the culture, and resilience etc., even if according to one or two I shouldn't dare to be disappointed by these things. Whatever, a bit more about what specifically he wanted to innovate and his ambitions for the season wouldn't have gone amiss. On the subject of which, it told me a lot when Williams and De Souza answered the question about where they saw the club in 5 years by volunteering that, if they were still there saying the same things, that would be success. (The question wasn't about you, guys - it was about where you see the club headed! Obviously, the two of you don't look much further than the end of your noses!)

In sum, I didn't feel particularly disappointed or uplifted by any of it, though I do think there seems to be a lot more planning and thinking going on at a systemic - or 'synergystic' - level, and Nourry (which is hardly difficult) is clearly a much more serious, refined and intelligent CEO than Hoos - let alone a clown like Chairman Tony - could ever be.

Now it's over to 'the football side of the operation' (sigh!) to see what it can do, or it's all just words. Which it is anyway, I suppose.

Not completely sure of your points on Marti and especially Stéphan.
I actually thought what he did say was stirring and encouraging but that’s just a difference in opinion and perspective.

Where you raise a great point and it’s a good spot, noticed by my significant other as it happened also, were answers given to the question you mentioned by BW and JDS.
If they are sitting there saying the same things in 5 years time then thats success?
Firstly how self absorbed as you rightly point out.
It’s about the team and moreso the club in general . Come on guys .
Put your back into it , just for the last 2 minutes of this nonsense .
In addition, Nourry spoke endlessly about plans, projects, and methods of making more capital going forward . Too much in my view , but that’s his job.
They could have taken their pick from anything he said and re hashed it if they really couldn’t think of anything, but they had nothing .

Ben Williams worries me as much as Nourry does .
He holds way more clout at this club than the fans in general are aware , yet looked a little disinterested, like he needed a good shower and showed a touch of arrogance that makes him slightly dislikable in my opinion. He should have been the one showing us the most that hr is ‘engaged’ after last year .
He strikes me and this is just my own opinion, that he is someone bought up far away from the world of football and thinks all fans are either , louts or saddo’s with no clue really about the soul of a football club.

Simmo said he came across as condescending.
That’s because he is.

Again, don’t expect people to agree with my rantings. Just how I see it .

This is my continued problem with it all. Yes I do get the argument against "100% what manager wants manager gets as we swing wildly from manager to manager", but I'd be willing to bet a lot of dosh that if results are bad because the squad is shite it will be Stephan who gets fired whilst Nourry, Belk and the rest of the Merry Men who built it all carry on their gravy train getting paid large sums regardless.

Nourry and his merry band of helpers are building the foundations and providing the manager with the best possible platform and support for him to succeed.

Stephan and his coaches are responsible for the match day performances. They will live or die on that and that alone. As do all managers/coaches.

If they are all sitting there in 5 years time saying the same things, it will be a success - because they'll have done well enough not to be sacked in a very volatile profession..

"We've looked at how other successful bakeries have made cakes, and whereas before we might have had some really good flour, butter, eggs, all the rest of it, the questions we have to be asking are - what can we do with those inputs, those "ingredients" if you like, to give them the best chance of turning into a cake? If it was as easy as just mixing all the ingredients together, we'd be implementing that model, but we've found that unless you put them in some kind of vessel first, then mixing them is just going to cover your whole room in semi-solid bits of food. So we've got people working on that, trying out all different kinds of pint glasses, and then of course that feeds into the whole issue of, do we want to be the bakery that just smashes the ingredients together with our fingers? Or is that an area where we can make incremental improvements like getting in there with a toothbrush or some kind of plastic straw, going anti-clockwise instead of clockwise? So many variables that go into a decision like that, and that's before you even get to the question of how long to microwave it."

Can I have a pint of what you’ve been on please. Or is it magic mushrooms?

I think Ben Williams was rightly nervous as he did phone it in last year literally but its been assessed as wrong by the club, hence why he is not remote now.

I would say the comment we only had gone up by a few percentage points in terms of number of injuries last season is more than likely correct, however its the length of time a player is out for, thats the key factor.

Ten injuries that last a week, as against nine that go on for three months.

Thats a bit of an attempted mangling of stats right there.

And then we have this non contactile injuries that apparently can never be prevented. I am no expert but am sure there are ways to lessen the likelihhod of all sorts of injuries, with different training techniques etc

I am certain also, without possessing all the expert knowledge , the way the data was explained was a bad attempt at smoke screening...

So he’s baking now, rather than cooking ?

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

It does sound encouraging.

And at least the club (well CN) has been communicating a bit more of late.

As Clive points out, when he tries to avoid talking he just stirs up needless suspicion.

Or "stats-lighting" as I like to call it

Well I found it very interesting, and CN came across OK to me, as did the rest of the panel. I suppose I might be easily pleased, or maybe not quite as cynical as some on this forum lol. Anyway, all I can say is I do feel the club has a more realistic plan going forward now, and I like it. URsss

Is it really necessary to run down Lee Hoos at every opportunity, due to your personal resentment that he didn't answer one of your emails.

It just deflects from the points you are trying to make to this group.
