40 million!!! Take the money NOW.

Why? Do you want us to win the net spend cup again?
I’d rather see us try and keep our best players

This! Take the money and run!

Why ? We won’t spend it ! the kid is only 18/19 ffs let him get us promoted first then he can have his dream. I’m sick and tired of constantly flogging our best players.

Leicester kept Vardy for years , palace still got Eze ,Wharton, Gueli etc are they massive clubs ? no their owners have balls . Sometimes you have to stand your ground in life and not be a doormat Palace rejected 80 million for gueli last season, Newcastle rejected 150 million for Isak .

As I said if we knew we were going to spend the money on a few quality players that’s great but look at our recent purchasing history diabolical . If Dibling and Fernandes go we will make the team so much weaker , what’s the point in that . ?

All valid points on here about keeping our best players etc. However, this is a lot harder when you have been relegated, with pressure from players wanting to play in premiership and agents turning their heads with large pay rises.

I think most people would accept that sometimes we have to cut and run, if the money was reinvested in full and wisely, Unfortunately, we have a history of really poor buys, who are either crocked or just not good enough.

The difference is the apparent attitude of the player. If he showed us last season of his commitment to the club on the pitch all the time and expressed the willingness to succeed with Saints, rather than apparent apathy the general views may be different
How many times did we hear on here about his laziness and lack of fight on the pitch and who's to say what he'll be like this season? Maybe a statement from the player might help?
The thing no one on here knows is that if the club do sell for megabucks what will they do with the money
Obviously we all want to keep our best players and not be a selling club, but we've always done that in the past ans £40m is a pretty decent sum for our club

Agreed
Yes he was a grumpy teenager last season because he wasnt getting his own way - tell me a teenager who doesn’t behave like that - because he was playing against much better players in the PL.

But, if we can hang on to him, i think potentially he can be very good in the championship, being a year older, and conscious of his ability to improve his value if he is successful; which in turn seems quite likely as he won’t be up against world class players, but journeymen pros he can run rings around.

So yes we mustn't let him go cheaply, everyone will be a loser if we do.

Palace are a similar size club to us look another bid rejected and look what’s happened to them over the years steady mid table club, won the FA cup and now Europe. We used to be like that until we flogged everything but the kitchen sink. Sometimes you just have to stand your ground.

I hear what you’re saying about his attitude which stunk the place out last season but Maybe Will Still can get the best out of him. Dibling May throw his toys out of the pram but he seems the very laid back type, who knows? if he does then get rid and hope we can recruit well before the end August . We’ll see.

Dibling not training with the first team. This is exactly why we should sell him. Do we want these distractions going on in the background when trying to get promoted? If we don't sell him now and take the 40 million, this will rumble on all season, with rumours of him going in January, his head not right etc etc. Keeping our best players, isn't keeping our best players if they arn't training with the first team, arn't cooperating, wish they were elsewhere. Who remembers keeping Van D!!k? Was it worth keeping our best player then? Dibling can't even train with the first team now. There must be a reason for that. We don't want a whole load of trouble with him do we, in an important season. Get rid!!!

Ordinarily I would agree.

However, we have to be mindful that Fernandes (and his agent) will be watching with interest.....

If he wants to go, he will go in the end. These players are powerful on lots of money. Same with VD, there was no chance we would have stopped him going to Liverpool. You can't, unless you can afford to lose millions with great players sitting in the reserves causing trouble.

Why not give him a new contract on vastly improved terms but insert a clause that he can have a release clause of say £50 million. Then tell him to prove his worth !!
I know it has been said his agent and family are pushing for him to move, apparently he will get a multi-million pound signing fee.
He must know he is not the finished player yet and some time in the Championship will make him a better player (better to start than be a small fish in a team)

Because he won't sign it. He was offered a new contract and he and his agent turned it down. He wants to leave!!! No point keeping a player who wants to go.

He is no doubt being offered huge amounts of money that Saints can't match by PL.clubs. He's not totally stupid is he! Who would turn down millions and millions of pounds, a 60 thousand seater stadium, possible European qualification, a big a contract on huge amounts of.money. He's a 19 year old being told how brilliant he is and how much of a star he will become. He doesn't want to play Stoke on a cold Tuesday night in the championship. He's being told he is an absolute star remember.

Everton are in for Grealish.

They'll probably want to avoid potential dressing room arguments about who the tiny shin pads belong to.

Keep him on his £5K a week for another season and let him rot in the U21!!
Okay I know Saints will not do that!!!

I don't even think he is that good a player (but has the potential)

I agree, I dont think he is as good as the money being mentioned shhh!! Haaland went to Man City for a reported fee of 50 million! And we are saying sulky Dibling who has scored one PL goal is worth more!?

I understand the temptation to stick him in the reserves on 5 grand a week and rot, but then Saints miss out on 50 million quid, and have to deal with a trouble maker all season. Not worth it. Get rid of any negativity. Take the money and spend some of it on new players like Fellows.

B B C suggesting he’s training alone from the first team in a no physical contact environment.

That would perhaps suggest a deal is imminent ?

Harland had release clause in his contract and will have cost well over 300mill when you take his 300k a week wages into account

What is the point of keeping a player doesn’t want to be here?
40 million is a good fee him.
Take it and invest it wisely Now.

Well it possibly indicates that talks are being held but doesn't necessarily imply a deal is imminent.

I am with StMark on this, training alone and isolating him from the team is probably a clear sign that a deal will be done.

If not, how long before he or his agent requests a move ? His head has obviously been turned. These things never usually end well if a player wants to leave, after a big offer is made. He also has a new agent who can smell a big pay day.

I accept he is a talented player (albeit inconsistent), but is it worth disrupting and unsettling the team at this stage of our rebuilding process ? Even if he stays, if Everton don't sign an alternative, this issue will only resurface in January.

To his credit, he has kept quiet - so far.

Take the money and re-invest wisely.
