5 Things From The Wrexham Game 09:41 - Aug 10 with 1750 views | SaintNick | 1. I had a drink in the Kingsland fanzone before the game, it was chaos, massive queues, not enough bar staff and the outside bar couldn't sell Lager by about 11.45 due to an issue with the beer pumps. 2. Everyone stayed to the end no one left early, for as long as i can remember lots of people leave with 5 minutes to go in all parts of the ground, but that didn't happen yesterday. 3. We need a leader and an organiser in the defence, how many times did they get a man through unmarked and in the first half had 2-3 chanced where their man was unmarked. 4. It was great to leave St Mary's with a victory under our belts, it's a feeling I have forgotten. 5. It's still a work in progress but with a couple of new players we could set the pace this season.

5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 09:50 - Aug 10 with 1703 views | franniesTache | 1. 12;30 kick offs are an awful time for a game 2. For the first time since st Mary’s opened I was at the chapel end of the ground, it made me realise how bad away fans must think our support is now, you literally can’t hear the northam at all 3. The chapel by the away fans has potential massive improvement on the northam but still only a small amount of people there, hopefully that’ll change 4. For most of the game I had no idea where the goals were going to come from slightly concerning that it looks like we’ve yet to fix that 5. Fernandes was the game changer we need to do all we can to keep him
5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 10:15 - Aug 10 with 1643 views | Berber | I thought that if there was one person to make Capt jack look good in defense, that person must be Edwards. Woefully inadequate, so definitely need another, decent defender. I can’t begrudge jack his moment of glory, he was there, did what he needed to, and often had to cover for Edwards too. He, more than anyone should be able to read the signs. I was pleaded that Robinson got to stay on the pitch when the subs came on. This is good learning for him, like lots of young lads, he got brushed off the ball too easily, and hopefully he learned yesterday that going down will not necessarily result in a free kick. I agree, a work in progress. For much of the game, I was struggling to see how we would actually score, and Armstrong is clearly not the main answer to that.I was pleasantly surprised overall, and found much of the play to be engaging, compared to the past two seasons.

5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 10:18 - Aug 10 with 1634 views | Joiedevivre | 1. The food options around the ground are vast. Stepping outside after full time felt like being caged in like guinea pigs: surrounded by fan parks. Easy to forget it’s a football ground. 2. Teams are going to come to St. Mary’s and sit back all season. We looked like scoring a bucket-load until their goal, then it was a different game. 3. I’ve forgotten how good it feels to win a football match. My whole mood this morning has been improved - it hasn’t been like this for over a year. 4. The Chapel was enjoyable simply for the fact I didn’t have to listen to proper shite all game - unless it was Wrexham fans and their library shoutouts. I think the atmosphere, with the small amount of people in there, will improve when smaller away followings come. Fair play to Wrexham fans they drowned out the Northam easily. 5. We were a bit further along on the end of the Chapel End “standers”, with most being in the weird box on the end built for what looks like fast-food drive through conversations with away fans, but stand we could with no annoyance.

2 - you were sat next to the away fans, that might be why you couldn’t hear the Northam. 6- I f()ckin loved it, leaving the ground smiling like a c()nt my son said that was his favourite game ever All the sweeter hearing the southern Disney fans moaning on the train home. UTS😇😇😇😇

It's amazing how differently we hear the home/away fans. Sat next to the Northam I could barely hear the Wrexham fans . The Northam was quiet for a chunk of the game which is pretty understandable as we were losing and struggling to break through and us long suffering fans were thinking " here we go again yet another defeat" Armstrong is a terrible centre forward and we need a leader up front to boss the oppo centre backs. He needs to be put on the right or on the bench if Still prefers a more out and out winger. Edwards was poor , destination and slow. He really needs to up his game. Wood in for Ipswich I reckon or just 2 CBs. Quarshie/Wood and Stephens. Quarshie has real potential but I sense a big error that will cost us a goal/ game is coming soon! THB and Stephens is the best pairing. Our full backs are so inconsistent. Manning was brilliant yesterday when he came on but he so capable of poor performance. Bree is very average and steady but surely we need a better than average Sugawara is erratic. Wellington has decent games but yesterday summed up why he still doesn't convince me .
5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 11:16 - Aug 10 with 1505 views | Southamptonfan | 1) Love the summer games, when St Mary's is awash with red and white. Interesting how being in different leagues attracts different people. Lots of blokes who disappeared last season, were all back yesterday for the Championship and nobody left early. 2) After that last minute winner, for a few seconds, I hesitated celebrating waiting for the announcement "VAR checking possible off side". Then realised it's okay celebrate!!! 3) It was chaos around the fan zones and was impossible to get food or drink in the concourse. It was a warm day, everyone fancied a drink and some an ice cream, which made the queues everwhere horrendous. Then after the game, outside the Northam stand, fans were completely penned in for about 15 minutes. 4) It's interesting how the Chapel can't hear the Northam, and the Northam can't hear the away fans. When they were next to each other, you could hear both sets of fans. 5) Welcome back to the Championship! What a great league it is. So competitive, so unpredictable, proper fans. Saints make such hard work of it, they just need a goal scorer. It would make things so much easier if we just had a natural goal scorer putting us 2 or 3 up, game over.

5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 11:30 - Aug 10 with 1454 views | PatfromPoole | We basically won the game by throwing the kitchen sink in the last 10 minutes and going very direct. Never the sort of stuff you would see in a Prem game. Moments define games and also seasons. Hopefully yesterday was one of them. It also gave the Northam a proper moment. You need stuff like that to happen for a stand to create an identity. A dream weekend for me. Oasis at Edinburgh on Friday night and then flew back for the game. Sometimes life can be uplifting.

Only way to top it off is takeaway curry, probably a jalfrezi. With mushroom rice

"Throwing the kitchen sink at them" Love that and that's exactly what it was. How many times have we been thinking for f@ck sake get the ball forward, we are losing, get the ball into the box! It was refreshing that last twenty minutes yesterday.

5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 09:08 - Aug 11 with 527 views | saint901 | 1. Good to see us on the right side of a couple of late goals and what is more, goals that we deserved. 2. Parkinson was a real dick in defeat. He was blaming everybody except himself when the reality is that a team with a large number of "elderly" players who bring experience but not energy, will always struggle to last 98 minutes. 3. I quite liked the 3 x CB which in theory allows the FB's the space to get forward and stretch a defence that was always going to sit deep. It needs more time to settle and be effective but I hope he stays with it. 4. Armstrong as a lone striker does not work. He does not have the physical presence and/or it means that the ball played to him is the wrong sort for him. (He is quick and in a foot race will beat most defenders. In a physical contest for a ball he will lose more than he wins). 5. The referee was awful. I hope this was a one off but i fear not.
5 Things From The Wrexham Game on 10:38 - Aug 11 with 453 views | MytchettSaint | The Referee was awful. Truly awful. I was sat in the Itchen yesterday (towards the Northam) and thought the Northam was loud at the start/end, a bit flat in-between for obvious reasons. The Wrexham fans were silent until their football in a library outburst. There's acoustic discrepancies it would appear depending on where you are sat. Was odd seeing a few hardy souls standing in the Chapel next to the away fans. From small acorns do mighty oak trees grow I suppose. How lovely to walk out the ground after a late goal deciding a game at St Mary's and it being for us. I think Wrexham will be there or there abouts, but for their time wasting tactics/gamesmanship - I was delighted it bit them on the arse at the end. The nagging annoyance though is when will we start learning the dark arts and applying them. We're still too nice for my liking.
