Fulton on 18:27 - Aug 16 with 1665 views | Whiterockin | Fulton came on to hold what we had and sit in front of the defence, the job worked because we didn't concede and picked up the points. I did expect Vipotnik to come on for Cullen at the same time to add extra hight for any corners, but that wasn't the case.

Sheehan seema to favour him so maybe he will stay. Even if the Forest guy signs we still need some depth .I liked what I saw today high energy fast paced attacikmg football this is going to be draining and mayne we need some extra depth ....the bench is strong now with various options and if Fulton is happy ro be a bench warmer and the club xan afford it then why not. I get it many fans dont rate him but our manager does. I wonder if the club fancy a cup run having players like Cooper and Fulton allow some rotation without dilutimg the starting line up too much especially in the early rounds against " weaker" opposition.

I think Cooper will be gone before the end of the month.

I his last few games he resembled Vinny Jones not a Swansea player. He was a wrecking ball.

Which I'd a shame he obviously now down the pecking order but he has a level of championship experience, Congreve dropped out of the match day squad. A couple of injuries as you would expect in any league campaign and we may need h Cooper as back up and on seeing the higher standard required of him on the pitch it may help him get the better skills to benefit squad and it is improving but let's take a step back and look at the fine line between a successful team and a winning one. Happily take a win today. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Fulton on 06:12 - Aug 17 with 1010 views | jackal | Our midfield yesterday was very impressive, Franco, Galbraith and the new lad really looked the business. Fulton is still going to play a part. Those three will not be able to play every game.
Fulton on 06:39 - Aug 17 with 985 views | Dr_Winston | Fulton played about ten minutes at most and had no influence on the game whatsoever, either good or bad. Still has a thread started slagging him off. Bonkers.

If we are to improve as a club and push for promotion we need better than Cooper and Congreve. You can add Fulton into that but he does have a specific role on and off the pitch and I can understand Sheehan using him. I can't see Fulton going because of his decent contract.

I think Cullen will find himself in that role once we sign a striker. I like him, I think he’s intelligent and versatile, but we will just have better options in every role he can play. He’d be ahead of Cooper for me though. It looks like we’re about to sign a Fulton type player from Forest. If it gets to the stage where we’ve got someone better at coming on to see the game out, he’s going to find it tough to get minutes.

I can’t see anyone paying Fulton more than 5k a week. Cooper and Congreve maybe keep as subs when we have injuries in the squad, but that’s about it.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Agreed. If he left for £5K a week he would be over quarter of a million pounds down this season. The only option would be for the club to let him go on a free and he got a signing on fee. If he's still here in the summer and we are still in the Championship is can see him signing a new contract on £4/5K a week, probably his true value now.

I didn't start the thread to slag him off , I think he's still a part to play but not sure whether he does. My comment about unbalancing the side was an observation because rightly or wrongly I thought he did

Your penultimate sentence is the key. Sheehan clearly rates Fulton. He's used him in some capacity in almost every game since he took over as caretaker, as indeed every manager Fulton has had since he first became a first team regular has used him regularly. It speaks volumes that during that time the only manager who made a concerted effort to move him on was the worst one of the lot, and even he eventually relented. [Post edited 17 Aug 8:57]

You're not wrong there Guthets Some love Fulton and any criticism is met with distain or approbium It's as if any discussion is killed off Fans have always had favourites and players they didn't rate I didn't rate De Guzman ( that highly)and I don't rate Fulton Now that's why you read what you do Personally I loved Ivor Jimmy Mac Michu Bony And Gylfi , arguably our best ever No fan should expect mediocrity All fans should overreact Joy is often a shallow mistress

Fulton on 10:03 - Aug 17 with 615 views | Fireboy2 | Fulton is a half decent dcm, the only reason he has been played by every manager since we got relegated, especially more recently is we cant get rid because of his wages and the previous ownership not getting decent midfielders in. Now we do seem to have decent owners who have got these decent players in fulton has dropped to the bench and hes only there because the squad isn't deep enough. I am not slagging him off btw, I am just stating facts, fulton is a below than average championship footballer on inflated wages, he is strong and fit, lacks spacial awareness but can come on and shore up the midfield later on in a game where we are winning. Anyone with any nous would see that after watching last week he shouldn't and hopefully won't be near the starting 11 ever again, the only time that will happen is if we get a few injuries with the middle players, I hope and pray that wont happen.
Fulton on 10:07 - Aug 17 with 593 views | onehunglow | Half decent means bang average ergo he should never have had his contract extended We can and have done better but are lumbered with him He's on a comfort zone at our club He ain't bad just does the minimum

Completely agree with this. I like what he does and he’s been great for us over the years, but we’re not going to play through midfield with him in it. We’ve all know his strengths and weaknesses. Managers haven’t wanted to get rid of him, because we’ve usually been light on numbers in the middle and never had the quality of Galbraith, Franco and Widell with Yalcouye for the season and the Forest lad about to come in. I completely get he may be a great influence on the squad and there’s still a role for him diing what he did yesterday. We’ve just moved on as a club and he won’t be the only player previously good enough who now isn’t.

Cannot see us keeping both Cooper and Congreve, happier to have Cioper's championship experience as for Congreve hard to judge with his limited game time and let's not forget about Cotterill, is he injured as he seems to have dropped out of the match day squad same as Congreve. Better quality has come in yes but the intensity that the midfield three dropped off understandably yesterday after 25mins to be regained in the second half. [Post edited 17 Aug 10:58]
