Steve bould on 09:40 - Aug 19 with 1881 views | mart_Goblin | The decision , and it might be SB’s choice or decision of course, to not have him on the bench on match days , with his experience , seems very peculiar. Like Lewis Hamilton signing for Ferrari and deciding he only wants to be in the pit crew . So much match day experience to tap into yet he is sat in the stands. I’m sure he will have some sort of communication but that’s just waste of him being there and seeing things as they happen and reacting and giving orders . Typical Rangers really .

Any truth in the rumour that he's taken over the lease on Williams' old pad and is now operating out of Dubai?

You should only have one boss on the bench and I mean JS. [Post edited 19 Aug 11:09]

Close - but I heard he’d actually moved in with the Lynchs and is subcontracting the work to Joel.
| Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Steve bould on 15:49 - Aug 19 with 1069 views | MedwayR | Pretty sure they said on match days he’ll be working with youth/development squads. His role is much wider than the first team and the first team players should be well drilled by match day so no need for him to be there, right…???

Steve bould on 15:52 - Aug 19 with 1044 views | golborne | He was busy as Venga's No2 for years in a period when they couldn't defend for toffee, even after being given the trade secrets by the great Tony Adams.. Just saying...but it was the first thing I thought when he was announced

Yeah, I wasn't a Vengaboys fan either.

I struggle with the club's logic on this, and think it needs to be explained better. First question - is Bould the defensive coach for the first team, or does he coach the defensive coaches for all QPR teams? Second question - is Bould attending first team games? (Maybe he's not involved on the line, but he's in the stand, for instance?). If the first team defensive coach is coaching players during the week then surely he has to see how they perform in the matches. Have they applied what they've learned in training. If so - great, what's next? If not, then why not? What do we need to address together? On Monday morning, I would have thought that the coaches have to review the players' performances, and as part of that the defensive coach has to review the defenders' performances. This will undoubtedly involve video anyalsis and clips, but surely the defenders have to know and respect that the defensive coach also watched the games live so as to assess their performances as best as he possibly can? If the first team defensive coach is actually Steve Bould, then I'd be very interested to hear whether he's attending games and, if not, the logic of him not doing so.

Steve bould on 16:28 - Aug 19 with 858 views | Pdog | Did I imagine hearing that his return to London was partly down to family commitments, or was that nonsense? It would at least explain why he’s not involved on matchdays, maybe his own decision since that would mean even more time away from home, which kind of defeats the point if he came back for the flexibility.

First question - I think he’s involved in both those Brian. Interesting that his job title seems to imply that the broader role is the first priority. I’d imagine that with it being a new role in a new coaching set-up with a new head coach, that a few things will be uncertain and need ironing out. Having someone in there of Bould’s experience should be beneficial you would have thought. Second question - I don’t know but it sounds like he isn’t required to be at matches and I personally don’t see why he should be. We’ve got Head Coach (Stephan) - Assistant head coach (Diarra) - Bloke with laptop (Cuni?) on match days I think and I’d imagine Bould would receive feedback from them if he didn’t watch live.
