Stoke Tickets 09:39 - Aug 21 with 1256 views | SaintNick | About 1,400 left for Saturday's game against Stoke, most of them are in the blocks on either side of the away fans Stoke only took an allocation of 2,400 tickets and although they havent sold all of those they arent far off a sell out, if they have a late rush, they may get block 28. It appears that moving the away supporters to the Chapel/ Kingsland corner has not been thought out, it looks like we can't allocate blocks to home fans if the away fans don't want them. Wont be a problem on Saturday by the look of it but when we play Blackburn in the penultimate game of the season and last home game and we are chasing a promotion spot, the club will be getting much stick from fans complaining that they can't get a ticket and there are 2,000 empty seats in the away section

Stoke Tickets on 09:44 - Aug 21 with 1236 views | A1079 | I am hearing that the Hull City away game is sold out - not sure of the number of tickets allocated to us. Considering the miserable season last year it is a real credit to our fanbase that they did not disappear and melt away last season and attending in good numbers. Saints fanbase gets little recognition but I think as a group we are pretty steadfast and stoic as a group.

Even worse, for years the section immediately behind the goal in the Northam was left empty to create even more segregation and that always looked terrible.

That's not true though, they'd often shift the segregation line in the Northam and open up a new block for sale if the away team didn't sell them. This was because they could move the segregation under the stand to allow for it. The new set up has both hard walls in the stand and as far as i'm aware no way of moving the segregation in the concourse. It is ultimately a f*ck up by the club that will cost us money in the long run

Absolutely right A1079, but also the perception may be that we might actually win a few games in the Championship thus a feeling of slight optimism?

Definitely! After all we did beat the team that are going to storm the league straight up through to the Prem on the opening game of the season. What more evidence do you need!

If there was ever any doubt before, the away win at Northampton dispelled it.

I have known you for a fair few years, mush. I don’t think “optimistic” would ordinarily be my first word used to describe you. No offence meant here, it’s a compliment of sorts. Has your login been hacked though?

I'm normally pretty realistic and not optimistic you are right. But i like what i've seen of Still and think when it starts to click we're going to tear teams apart. The fact we're not losing when we're playing badly at a point which i expect to be our worst in the season due to bedding a new manager and having a squad that's changing is a massive positive to me. I also think from what i've seen so far of the league the standard is poor, and we have much better quality than most down here. I expect top two, i'm hopeful for top, and no i'm not used to thinking like this either

Stoke Tickets on 17:59 - Aug 21 with 689 views | cocklebreath | Just bought 2 as my sons match on Saturday finishes at 12.45pm just enough time to get from Whitchurch to Southampton get parked and have a pint. I’m sure we haven’t scored against them in the league at home for about 20 years

I vaguely recall seeing a Sadio Mane winner against them in a home game…..

Just coz you didn’t agree with the moving of away fans you’re going to constantly be looking for arguments to support your stance. Get the f*ck over it!

It is a valid point though. It does seem daft to lose out on potentially quite a lot of revenue if the away team doesn't bring a big following. I can think of many a game where Saints fans took up extra blocks in the Northam pre-2024, and the away fans were shoved more into the corner.

Surely even the most ardent Northam Wall lovers can’t think potentially having 2000 empty seats that could have gone to home fans a worthwhile sacrifice?

The club is planning/building for life back in the Prem, how many home league games in the Prem do you think that would occur? There is also scope within the current/revised layout underneath the stand to facilitate us being given block 28 and most of 27 if that ever became a worthwhile exercise. [Post edited 21 Aug 22:01]
