I said when he joined that I was pleased that Steve Bould was looking after the defensive coaching but to be honest, watching the extended highlights I can see absolutely no evidence of any coaching of the backline at all. Those calling for Walsh to be dropped need to watch. He's not responsible for a single goal here. Literally everyone in front of him is. I know the ultimate buck stops with Stephan but I am really scratching my head here and wondering what exactly Steve Bould does? From what we can see, they haven't got a clue how to defend to a man, protect the ball or close anything down. Very concerning to see a team utterly devoid of defensive positioning.

Firstly, there's absolutely nothing "Friendly" to Expats, or those unfortunate to still be living in England, about your post, Boston.
Secondly, re Steve Bould, I've read somewhere on here today, that he doesn't work weekends and is therefore not at the games.
It's almost like the club want to give us sticks to beat them with. How is this the way to run a professional football club? We've, probably, all seen that Arsenal corner/free kick specialist that is all over the TV screens at every corner/free kick and whilst annoying as he is, it would appear to be working.
It's almost like being a boxer and having your defensive trainer there during the week for coaching, but then on fight night they're nowhere to be seen.

You couldn't make it up. Oh wait...

How can a person involved in organising a championship teams shape and structure in defence be given Saturdays off
Bould is nearing retirement age though so makes sense !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In instances like this it’s easy and understandable to blame the defence but there’s six players ahead of them who are doing literally nothing to stem the tide.

Was not the keeper, was not the centre backs or the left back. IMHO It was central midfield Varane and Field and the entire right side that was totally dysfunctional Dunne, Dembele and Morgan all having mares. plus not having an out ball with Burrell up top. Nearly every goal they had the freedom of the park where the midfield should have been protecting the defence, Varanne not tracking and Field has fallen of a cliff this season.
Also dont be surprised to see Dunne get a retrospective 3 game ban for that elbow.
