Refwatch - Rochdale v Sutton United on 08:59 - Aug 26 by EllDale

Looking at the ominous strength of some of the teams in this league (eg Southend, Carlisle, FGR, York) then I think that we have to try and win EVERY game. No pussyfooting around being happy with drawn away games because we dominated possession.
The NL this season could well be a repeat of 2/3 years ago when Wrexham, Notts County and Chesterfield were all slugging it out and 100 points didn’t guarantee automatic promotion.

I actually think the opposite.

90 could easily finish top.

Because there is the big 4 or 5 (Throw us in the top 6 mix) there will be points dropped and shared more often..

It does re-inforce your point though WWW v Wealdstone Braintree and Truro gives breathing space in the upcoming games York / Scunthorpe / Carlise / Southend / Forest Green etc..

York and Southend have already won at Truro for example.
In theory to match them we should do the same.
I think Oldham got out of this league at just the right time.

Being ruthless and picking up points against the lower placed teams could well prove to be the key to winning this league. Respecting the point doesn't apply now that we have better quality player, a draw is two points dropped. If i'm being honest though i don't reckon McNulty believes we can win the league deep down and wont be targeting it. It's not in his nature to think like that. He'll be expecting York or Carlisle to be thinking in terms of going straight up because of thrir budgets. My hope is that Done and Taylor can instill a ruthlessness into our performances away from home but we saw none of it against Brackley. Win these next three games and we'll be flying and we are more than capable of doing that if we field our strongest available team in each game.

Didn't watch the game but a good result against a team I assume will climb the table over the next few months. The highlights packages from both teams don't really show any credible Sutton chances- so well done to the team on seeing out the game so effectively.

Watched on DAZN.

Like the opener—off the pace, a bit ring-rusty. Maybe that’s the level, or the price of ripping up the XI and killing momentum.

Irony: three injuries to lads who didn’t even play on Saturday—this after Jim’s Lost in Space 'danger! danger!' H&S warnings about playing 2 games in 4 days.

Keeper looks solid.

For the love of god, please, no repeat of wholesale changes; swapping all 11 isn’t helping.

Hard question: is the manager the weak link in the team?

Looking at the fixtures,by early October we will know whether the managers slightly passive aggressive actions where a master stroke or served no purpose and merely hindered our progress.

Losing a game can never be regarded as a "masterstroke", in any circumstances

If by October we're still in a great position, we should've been in a great position plus an extra point or three

JM isn't capable of masterstrokes, only very gradual improvements with self-inflicted setbacks along the way. A masterstroke requires a master; he's a plodder

Unfortunately whats done is done, we may end up a point short of promotion at the end of the season and the decision to change 10 players will look like a poor one. Equally, Sutton may be thinking that if we had had a bit less in the tank on Monday they could have beaten us...we scraped home and took 3 points we could well have drawn on Saturday and yesterday so we could consider we are a point better off.....
Winning home games is paramount....however, 2.2 points a game is the requirement for100 points and we are on target with 2.4, we have to convincingly put away the poorer teams and ensure we take points from the better sides.
So far, of the top 7 clubs we have had the 3rd most difficult start based on the league positions of the teams we have played against and we are at a top 7 club in Wealdstone on Saturday... FGR are top at the moment having played Solihull, Yeovil, Sutton, Halifax and Eastleigh which is currently the highest placed club of the 5 (in 15th place) that they have played.....

Your first paragraph does indeed sum up all the ifs, buts and maybes. Chaos Theory is the only certainty to get three points.
