According to West London Sport 3 clubs are in for Celar, although no deal has been done.

The bidding must be on who QPR can pay more to get him out the door in a reverse bidding war.....

All impressive strikes, but it’s a friendly so is the intensity and pace what it is in the Championship or will be in Bundesliga 2? Also, what formation to Fortuna play? I doubt it’s 4231. He might be a decent forward, but not as a lone striker, IMO. Begs the question why we signed him for that role.

And FWIW, Bundesliga 2 is weaker than the Championship.

Get in the sea with your common sense and balanced postings, don’t you know this is prime moaning fodder for, er something.

CELAR OUT

joking aside , agree with above post in that I hope the move works out for him, he never seemed settled with us

Never suited to the Championship and equally unsuited to the role assigned him. That's 100% on us.

To what extent he exerted himself and gave it everything to meet the challenge, well that's for him to fathom and us to guess.

Of what I saw, the word languid sprang to mind, but good luck to him and us in recouping our outlay.

Just scored a hat trick in a friendly. Two free kicks and an outside the box strike.

Is that Nourry on commentary?

FC Genk are no mugs.

Sometime you have to wonder if we are the problem.

There’s a lot to be said for that point of view.

We’ve had a succession of duff centre forwards but our midfields over the same time could have reduced Jimmy Greaves to a gibbering wreck.

It’s my biggest fear for Kone. He looks the part but he and we are going to have to come to terms with what’s behind him on numerous occasions.

If I were Kone I'd be pretty pleased to have variously Burrell, Smyth, Poku, Dembele, Chair and Vale behind me. Not the shabbiest of AMs to draw on.

I also think with Hayden behind him Varane might be persuaded to come past the halfway line. He certainly has the ball skills.

Hope so, we could bring him on specifically for the penalty shootout

True, you’d hope some of those could get the ball in front of him.

Kone had the one ball played in front of him last week and converted. Even the best of forwards need a bit more than that.

I'm glad to see some acceptance that a player who had a very decent record at a good level (and plays international football for a half-way decent international side) might not actually be utter sh*te just because he struggled to make an impact in a very poor QPR side.

I'm not even convinced that he's incapable of playing in the Championship, but I do think he did not fit the capabilities of our team at the time. He had just shown that he might do a job for us in the two games before his injury, but I think Kone and Burrell are both better options for us and a loan with a view to a sale is the right way to go.

Largely I think it is "on us" (or at least on Nourry, or whoever was responsible for last year's transfer window) but if the rumours of him not settling in London are true then I think a bit of that is on him - maybe he should have done a bit of research, it's not as though London is an obscure place.

Possibly but no chance he's getting selected ahead of Remy.

For his sake and most importantly for the sake of the club, I wish him a very, very successful loan spell leading to a sale.

He's not going to come back here and be first choice...or even third choice at this point. I don't see how he comes back to be a part of this group. We gave him the chances in the Championship and it just didn't work for us or for him in this league.

Let's not over-egg the international angle. Slovenia are ranked 50th in the world and Celar has scored no senior goals in 17 appearances.

Likewise, the Swiss Super League is ranked 21st in Europe.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Celar suffered from being the wrong player in the wrong team. It would be unfair to say Kone or Burrell are replacements for him because neither of them play remotely similar games to him. Burrell's all-action style and Kone's brutal hold-up play are just so much better for us than his 6 yard box shtick.

I don't hold any antipathy towards him - he just wasn't anything we needed.

I agree that we shouldn't overstate it, but 50th is about ten places better than either the Republic of Ireland or NI and just a couple below Scotland and Romania. They drew 2-2 with Sweden the other day and a few year's back they came to Wembley and only lost to a Harry Kane goal in the 94th minute.

It's not setting anything on fire, but it's not rubbish either.

(The rankings also are a bit harsh on European sides (and Latin American ones) IMO because they all play each other a lot - Iran are currently 20th and Egypt are 34, which I suspect is due to them playing a load of rubbish Middle Eastern sides a lot of the time.)

Agree with that Hunter, albeit two of the strikes were well taken free kicks which would probably have been difficult to defend in any league.

I think, we have accepted that signing him was a mistake and learned from it. Perhaps, we were keen to sell Kelman, and replace him with Kone, as his game is similar to Celar's whereas Kone is much more suited to the lone striker role.

Mate, I go to watch the Swiss Super League - it's below Championship level football

Shit but local
