No ill will from me. Looked like he could score goals if given supreme service, but that was never going to fit with us. Hope he does well in Germany and earns us a tidy transfer fee so that we can recoup some of the money spent.
Tough one as loved him as a player, but see him a whole lot more when we're on a bad run. Hindsight is nice, but I'm not going to dogpile the club for failing with a transfer, does any have 100% hit success? For every Madsen and Celar there will be a Morrison and Varane. Hopefully he does well and we can recoup some money with the buy option

Yeah, even Brentford and Brighton have signed some stinkers. I think the media like clubs to spend loads of money, it makes excitement for them.
Don't hear too much about Sheff Utd spending all that money on Brewster for example.
So far all our flops like Washington have been pretty small outlays for the Championship, so the element of risk is higher.
Yeah but he never shares his wisdom at the time, always once they've failed.
Almost like he has an axe to grind
I think he offers hints of his underlying views though. I'm sure early on he was noting Celar didn't seem particularly quick or able to hold onto the ball and bring others into play, so noted he'd likely be reliant on service - which for a club like us isn't an ideal situation.
He has constantly banged the drum of us needing 4 strikers, like Luton had when they returned to the premier league. So, while he's not said early on "Celar isn't very good and I would never have bought him if I had a choice", I did suspect he wasn't a fan.

fair diff in how much we spent on morrison and varanne though
how much did we pay for madson and celar ? 5 million both longish term contracts was the rumour , so an expensive mistake on both of them ,

Works PT for WSL
Bit difficult to report on a good run the last few seasons in his defense. God forbid he actually knows what he's talking about.

Fair and I think they've learned from their mistakes, but it's probably more commendable to find value out of the cheaper signings like we've done with those and Morgan for example. My early assumption is that their potential value would far surpass the money we spent on Madsen and Celar
Conversely, he scored 51 in 116 in all competitions for Lugano in the Swiss League. It isn't like he's some kind of fraud who wondered into professional football by mistake, but he looks completely wrong for the Championship. Similar to Madsen.
I just scanned Fortuna Dusseldorf's squad list and Celar will be lining up with Jordy De Wijs. Perhaps they can bond over shared past trauma.
Yeah, this is very much my view.
Some people talk as if he's utterly useless, but no-one's going to be buying him on the basis of last season, they'll be looking at his previous history and seeing an opportunity to get a proven striker for a cheap fee.
Not suggesting that he's some sort of Lost Striker for us, he doesn't seem to fit either the league or the way we play, but there's no reason he can't do well in the German 2nd tier.
Just not the right player for us, it is just one of those things. Some work out some don't and in a way glad he has secured a new chance for himself. He never really looked happy in a QPR shirt, probably better suited to 2nd tier European football.
Just scored a hat trick in a friendly. Two free kicks and an outside the box strike.
Just shows that he does have it but for some reason he just never settled here and it could be the pace is too much here. But, why didn't anyone realise he can hit a dead ball like that? Questions should be asked.

My thoughts exactly. When do we ever score free kicks? He's scored two within minutes of each other. That said, do you remember that penalty he took?
They have option to buy - would the price already be set? Hope he smashes it. Either we get good money for him, or he comes back in form and maybe does the same for us.
All impressive strikes, but it’s a friendly so is the intensity and pace what it is in the Championship or will be in Bundesliga 2? Also, what formation to Fortuna play? I doubt it’s 4231. He might be a decent forward, but not as a lone striker, IMO. Begs the question why we signed him for that role.
And FWIW, Bundesliga 2 is weaker than the Championship.
