£5 million defender on loan to Ligue 2 club 14:18 - Aug 25 with 1658 views | PatfromPoole | I have read people on here claim that this guy “looks the part”. Another £5 million spunked by Sport Republic looks more the case….. Why are we not loaning him back to Valenciennes?

If anyone mentioned the words “money’ and ‘laundering” in the same sentence, it wouldn’t be out of the question. Over to you, Nick. You somehow claimed he “looked the part” in two meaningless end of season friendly matches.

£5 million defender on loan to Ligue 2 club on 09:37 - Aug 26 with 1081 views | SaintNick | Firstly yes he did look the part, they might have been endless end of season games to Saints, but to Everton playing their last ever game at Goodison it wasn't meaningless and to Arsenal who needed to make sure that Manchester City didn't catch them and snatch 2nd place. This guy is 18 years old, he is being loaned out not because he is not good enough, but because we are giving him game time at another club, building up his career to get him ready to play in our first team at a time when there are others in the pecking order in front of him. How can you possibly say we have spunked £5 million, firstly because it was 5 million euros not £'s and secondly because he has played just 12 minutes (plus Injury time) of first team football for Saints, he looked the part but he is not the finished article, would you prefer he makes his mistakes out on loan or for us in the Championship.

But the point is, 5 million for this guy, 7 million for Downes, 5 million for Quashie, put it together and you get Sargent, a proven striker who would probably have won us the game Saturday. Why keep buying players, to develop, to send on loan to develop, might get good, might be good blah blah blah. Do we not just want good players to come in right now, who will fire us to promotion, be ready immediately? I don't want to wait a few years for this 5 million pound signing to develop!! I want promotion this season! And how do we know at 18 that a player will develop? It's p!ssing in the wind. [Post edited 26 Aug 10:16]

5 million Euros, pounds, dollars, whatever. It makes little difference. Either way it's a heck of a lot of money to pay to a fellow Sport Republic club for a player who is seemingly miles away from playing in the first team. As the new manager says, if you're good enough, you're old enough. He hasn't been shy to play Jay Robinson. If he can't get in the team ahead of Jack Stephens or Quarshie, I can say with some confidence that we have spunked ABOUT 5 million pounds. And he isn't even getting game time in a high-standard League. It's Ligue 2, FFS. Lunacy. [Post edited 26 Aug 10:28]

£5 million defender on loan to Ligue 2 club on 10:38 - Aug 26 with 947 views | dirk_doone | These youngsters are not brought in to strengthen our team; the plan is to sell them for a profit to strengthen other teams, after they've played a handful of games here or in Turkey or France to showcase them. We can see from Sport Republic's time in charge here that there is clearly no long-term plan to build our team and there probably never will be. That's not a priority for them. Actually I think that's wrong. They do intend to strengthen SFC and play in the PL. Anything else makes absolutely no sense financially. The problem is they think they can do it on the cheap by focusing on developing and selling young talent and blending the youngsters with some journeymen. We all know that this will fail but they haven't realised that yet.

The future never comes and thats a fact. Tino, Lavia, Alcaraz and Fernadez were ready to go from the start. The other 24 we bought over the last 3 seasons will never make it (Mara, Edozie, larios, Stewart, Abu, McNamara, Charles, Awe, Obrien - Whitmarsh, Ronnie Edwards, Khiani Shombe, Brook Myers, Kuryu Matsuki, Romeo Akachukwu, Juan, Baylee Dipepa, Sam Tabares, Daouda Traoré, Joachim Kayi Sanda, Victor Udoh and Rento Takaoka).

I never said it made financial sense. Look what happened to the last organisation Johannes Spors was sports director at. It was a disaster. [Post edited 26 Aug 10:56]

Even Lavia wasn't really ready. He wasn't ready physically and so suffered from repeated hamstring problems. He needed time to rest and strengthen. No other PL side would have relied on a youngster like that.

£5 million defender on loan to Ligue 2 club on 14:51 - Aug 26 with 634 views | 1885_SFC | Johannes Spors was shortlisted and nearly got the gig at both Newcastle & Tottenham recently. Wonder why he was overlooked by both? Ironically, it is claimed that Spors prefers to recruit players from countries they already play in as opposed to bringing them in from foreign clubs. That was never going to be the case with Newcastle! Think I've just answered my own question... [Post edited 26 Aug 14:52]

His signings for us haven’t played in England before. I am excluding George Long as that is an absolute joke of a signing which totally wastes a potentially valuable loan opportunity.

Newcastle dodged a bullet... https://www.geordiebootboys.com/news/how-johannes-spors-may-have-talked-himself- Who is having the final say in the boardroom if Spors isn't being listened to? [Post edited 26 Aug 15:04]

£5 million defender on loan to Ligue 2 club on 15:07 - Aug 26 with 595 views | PatfromPoole | I suspect that in keeping with the frankly mad signing of Kayi Sanda, we will buy a striker for £10 million. From Göztepe. And then loan him back to them. All good ethical business practice.

Reports of us going in for Rak-Sakyi again, apparently we've had a 10m bid turned down. Is he any better than Edozie who we bought for 8m and looks likely we'll flog for a loss to the Belgium club..? The manager has stated and all us fans can see we desperately need attacking options but can they be trusted to get it right this time.. Adding to Pats list of what we could have got for the Kayi Sanda money...Keiffer Moore, Carlton Morris , either of the Stoke wingers would have been nice.
