Firstly yes he did look the part, they might have been endless end of season games to Saints, but to Everton playing their last ever game at Goodison it wasn't meaningless and to Arsenal who needed to make sure that Manchester City didn't catch them and snatch 2nd place.
This guy is 18 years old, he is being loaned out not because he is not good enough, but because we are giving him game time at another club, building up his career to get him ready to play in our first team at a time when there are others in the pecking order in front of him.
How can you possibly say we have spunked £5 million, firstly because it was 5 million euros not £'s and secondly because he has played just 12 minutes (plus Injury time) of first team football for Saints, he looked the part but he is not the finished article, would you prefer he makes his mistakes out on loan or for us in the Championship. |  |

But the point is, 5 million for this guy, 7 million for Downes, 5 million for Quashie, put it together and you get Sargent, a proven striker who would probably have won us the game Saturday. Why keep buying players, to develop, to send on loan to develop, might get good, might be good blah blah blah. Do we not just want good players to come in right now, who will fire us to promotion, be ready immediately? I don't want to wait a few years for this 5 million pound signing to develop!! 5 million Euros, pounds, dollars, whatever. It makes little difference.
Either way it's a heck of a lot of money to pay to a fellow Sport Republic club for a player who is seemingly miles away from playing in the first team.
As the new manager says, if you're good enough, you're old enough. He hasn't been shy to play Jay Robinson.
If he can't get in the team ahead of Jack Stephens or Quarshie, I can say with some confidence that we have spunked ABOUT 5 million pounds.
And he isn't even getting game time in a high-standard League. It's Ligue 2, FFS.

These youngsters are not brought in to strengthen our team; the plan is to sell them for a profit to strengthen other teams, after they've played a handful of games here or in Turkey or France to showcase them.
