As an organisation, Gregg’s show some great responsibility. I volunteered at an emergency winter homeless shelter in town and every night Gregg’s donate tons of their unused stock to them and other similar causes throughout the city. This is replicated across the country too.

Saw a TV programme about Greggs and what they also do is have a few retail outlets in some really deprived areas that sell imperfect stock (the modern equivalent of cheap bags of broken biscuits) and stock that will go out of date that day at reduced prices. They filmed in one of the outlet stores up in the North East and person after person briefly interviewed were so full of praise for what they do as they genuinely struggle to pay full price for what they need,
Good on 'em and in total contrast to our local independent bakers where an inferior sausage roll is 70p more expensive and the female owner swans around in a pale blue Bentley convertible with a personal plate BUN and a couple of numbers. They donate nothing to anybody (which comes from an ex member of staff). |  |
