Skate Mates 16:07 - Sep 10 with 1809 views | Chesham_Saint | I have one or two. Anyone else? I have to say I respect them for supporting their local team though, even if it is a festering pile of dogshit.

In some respects I am totally the same as you in that I have far more respect for their fanbase than the likes of Liverpool, United, Spurs contingent who I hate with a passion. Regardless though, Pompey as a club are the lowest of the low what with screwing charities and being absolute Dinlo’s.

Skate Mates on 18:32 - Sep 10 with 1604 views | 1885_SFC | Through my business, I know all the Pompey 'knocker boys' / antique dealers well, several of them, and most are a good bunch. Always have a laugh and much banter with them about our clubs. I also know a good few Pompey area house clearance lads well and they too are mostly good lads. On top of that, my best mate is a Pompey fan (don't ask!) and he's a great fella to be honest. We've been best mates for 40+ years and never tire of giving each other sh1t. All of the above will be forgotten come Sunday lunchtime though. W*nkers.

Skate Mates on 18:54 - Sep 10 with 1560 views | felly1 | Up until a few years ago I spend over 13 years working in Pompey (Rat Island) , Leigh Park , Gosport etc. Going in their houses with Pompey flags everywhere. Seeing Fratton Park every poxy day. Lots of banter and they soon sniffed out a scumma with my oo arr accent. Got on with loads of them but certainly not ever proper mates. Thankfully I now spend my days working on the council estates of our beautiful city. Classy .

Skate Mates on 15:36 - Sep 11 with 949 views | SouthSeaSaint | I went to school in Fareham for a while and we used to have Saints v Pompey games at break time and we all got on well together. The problems started in the mid sixties when hooliganism first reared its head and Pompey came up to cause problems at John Hollowbread's Testimonial. It then got worse when the story was fabricated about Southampton Dockers 'strike breaking', when the only known evidence of this is when Dockers in the Commercial Port in Pompey broke an agreement not to handle a Brittany Ferry ship in November 1976.

Skate Mates on 16:59 - Sep 11 with 826 views | Wints76 | I have a couple of good mates who are Skates, and am meeting them bith for a beer Monday. I feel sick about the game at the minute, so will see how it goes as to whether I turn up 🙂 My eldest lad is away with the Navy at the minute. He thinks they are going in to a blackout zone from Sunday for a few days so won't be able to use WiFi or data. The boat captain has said he'll do an announcement if the Skates win, so no news could be good news | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Skate Mates on 20:17 - Sep 11 with 624 views | NYC_Saint | When my eldest first started school in NY 10 years ago, I was introduced to "the other British dad" in the class. Took about 60 secs to work out we were saints and Pompey fans. He turned out to be a very nice guy - his dads from Portsmouth by he never lived in UK until Uni as his Dads job had them living all over the world. As such I think it's a sign of character he stuck with his dads team rather than opt out and support a glamor team instead. He was even pleased for me when we won the playoff vs Leeds. I, however, could not be the bigger man and have any joy for any Pompey success.
Skate Mates on 08:29 - Sep 12 with 241 views | Tonyfromdk | I hate them and everyone who’s a fan. When Steve Moran scored at Fratton , that had to be my happiest time of going to games. For me then It couldn’t get any better . The place is a sh@thole and the fans are … not normal…. [Post edited 12 Sep 9:07]
