Couple of guys at work are Skates fans and to be brutally honest, both are decent hardworking types who you can have some banter with.
In some respects I am totally the same as you in that I have far more respect for their fanbase than the likes of Liverpool, United, Spurs contingent who I hate with a passion.

Through my business, I know all the Pompey 'knocker boys' / antique dealers well, several of them, and most are a good bunch. Always have a laugh and much banter with them about our clubs. I also know a good few Pompey area house clearance lads well and they too are mostly good lads.
On top of that, my best mate is a Pompey fan (don't ask!) and he's a great fella to be honest. We've been best mates for 40+ years and never tire of giving each other sh1t.
All of the above will be forgotten come Sunday lunchtime though. W*nkers. |  |

Up until a few years ago I spend over 13 years working in Pompey (Rat Island) , Leigh Park , Gosport etc.
Going in their houses with Pompey flags everywhere.
Seeing Fratton Park every poxy day.
Lots of banter and they soon sniffed out a scumma with my oo arr accent.
Got on with loads of them but certainly not ever proper mates.
Thankfully I now spend my days working on the council estates of our beautiful city. Classy . |  | | |

I went to school in Fareham for a while and we used to have Saints v Pompey games at break time and we all got on well together.

When my eldest first started school in NY 10 years ago, I was introduced to "the other British dad" in the class. Took about 60 secs to work out we were saints and Pompey fans. He turned out to be a very nice guy - his dads from Portsmouth by he never lived in UK until Uni as his Dads job had them living all over the world. As such I think it's a sign of character he stuck with his dads team rather than opt out and support a glamor team instead.
He was even pleased for me when we won the playoff vs Leeds. I, however, could not be the bigger man and have any joy for any Pompey success. | | | |
