Removals companies 08:47 - Sep 12 with 2027 views | hubble | Sorry, it's another non-QPR request thread. I'm about to move out of my flat after 30 years living in Queen's Park. If anyone has any good recommendations on removals companies (or who to avoid) that would be much appreciated.

Removals companies on 09:45 - Sep 12 with 1894 views | MrSheen | We used Rumsey & Son, based in Brentford, when we moved in January. Great service, didn’t complain (to our faces!) about having to carry our stuff up four flights of stairs, nothing broken, super fast. One of them was a Rangers fan!

Removals companies on 09:55 - Sep 12 with 1830 views | Esox_Lucius | I am unable to help on this matter but it did cause me to think we often have similar non QPR related threads and perhaps it might be worth having a pinned "Community Help Wanted" thread to keep all the questions, and replies in one place. It would also be a real help in going back to see what advice was given at the time, in the future should someone else require similar advice/ assistance.

Removals companies on 10:02 - Sep 12 with 1803 views | Juzzie | Not sure what area you are moving to but if it's anyway in the vicinity of TW2, don't use Barans. Got a quote from them, all OK. Called up again to take it to the next step and the guy (owner I think) started arguing with me about the price he had quoted me a few days earlier. I calmly explained what we had previously discussed but he got quite irate and still maintained I was wrong. It then turned out he got the names mixed up and thought I was someone else. OK, easy mistake to make but his whole demeanour and aggressive/argumentative stance put me off. I've heard from others they are a bit of a law unto themselves as to how they go about things and seem to think they 'run' the show in the area.
Removals companies on 10:03 - Sep 12 with 1800 views | BklynRanger | Some of the prices of movers are astronomical, so we got one off Shiply. Conversely I'd only use them if you're looking for the cheapest rather than a more comprehensive sort of service. You submit a contents list and people start bidding based on that, at which point you need to try to research the various people who've contacted you. Main initial drawback being your contents list will probably grow and you'll have to adjust it, and the quotes. We ended up with two Lithuanians who were not at all positive when they showed up. After a fair bit of back and forth and speaking to the manager (the older bloke's wife I reckon) we got it sorted out, but we did help them throughout. Three floors down and three back up to the new place, no lift. Best workout I've had in a while and the relationship had transformed into one of sweaty cameraderie by the end. If you're not looking for that sort of thing I'd probably steer clear. [Post edited 12 Sep 10:04]

Removals companies on 10:03 - Sep 12 with 1802 views | KensalT | If you are moving out of London it might be worth getting quotes from firms local to the area you are moving to. They tend to be a lot cheaper than the London firms.
Removals companies on 11:10 - Sep 12 with 1640 views | hubble | Many thanks for all your replies guys, much appreciated. I am actually (don't laugh) moving to Wales! So as you say Kensal, I may be better off using a company who are based closer to where I'm moving to. But I will check out all your recommendations.

Removals companies on 11:25 - Sep 12 with 1591 views | joe90 | I moved a few weeks ago. Opted to rent a Luton van and do it myself. Saved about £600. Looking back, I still ask myself if it was worth it, it was that stressful, haha! Good luck Hubble. [Post edited 12 Sep 11:29]

Wales might be a bit far. They'd need to set off very early in the day for that. But it's a nice short journey home for them at the end of the day.

As you're moving abroad, the last mob I used were excellent (cranburys.co.uk). I've used many companies moving my kit around the planet over the years, and these guys were right up there. Great service out of the office, arrived when they said they would, very quick and professional packing up and delivered everything in tact (after several weeks in storage) and no dilly-dallying. They were so good that despite being UK based, we'll speak with them to do our next move here. Thought they were on point for price, too. Bonne chance.

Removals companies on 12:14 - Sep 12 with 1406 views | Paddyhoops | Last time we moved . I hired a 7.5 tonne lorry as being a bit ancient , I have a licence which basically allows me drive a spaceship . I did break a mirror in transit though which didn’t please the missus . Good luck with your move. It’s a ball ache though .

Thanks mate. Boz, I'm off to Wales to find a wife 😂 South West, near the coast. Rural, peaceful and beautiful. Very close to one of my oldest friends. Can't wait TBH. Take that, Samuel Johnson!
