Walsh/Nardi π on 02:32 - Sep 15 by smudgehoop | I didn't know Cooper was short for a keeper. That's a real shame as I thought he could be our next number 1 goalie. I wonder if we'll come back in for Dieng in January? |
Murphy is 6.1 so isn't that short, actually the same height as Nardi. For context David Raya at Arsenal is 6ft and he seems to be doing OK.

Walsh/Nardi π on 01:31 - Sep 15 by DannyPaddox | Dave you sound more and more like AI every post. Move away from the bland/generic β¦ you/we canβt compete with the robots. Saying that your comments about Coooper are interesting. As for Matteo Salamon. Saw him play for the Dev squad, most recently, last week. As a traditional keeper heβs ready and heβs got the confidence. But heβs obviously been urged to use his feet and pass it from the back. Like I say he has the confidence but hasnβt quite cracked the keeper as Pirlo yet β¦ it will come. As for Cooper being too small. Cmon short-arse keepers are often lauded in West London newspapers. You should know that. |
I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

Walsh/Nardi π on 14:50 - Sep 14 by dmm | Nardi is 6' 1" so not that tall for a keeper. |
Which might be why he doesnβt always show for crosses. I prefer a cautious keeper to one who rushes out to crosses he canβt possibly reach
| Strong and stable my arse. |

Alex Smithies wasn't exactly the jolly green giant and he was decent. Oh sod it. Let's bring back Joe Lumley !!!! Failing securing the services of Calamity Joe, Nicolas Madsen is apparently 6 foot 4 inches tall. Give the great dane a go, surely !!! [Post edited 17 Sep 7:06]

Walsh/Nardi π on 15:18 - Sep 14 by London_Pride | The big positive for Nardi is his distribution. In my view this more than compensates for his failure to collect crosses. When passing or throwing the ball to defenders he shows a confidence and ability to quickly find a player in space. In comparison, Walsh hesitates and is too predictable, immediately putting the defender under pressure. Also when Nardi went direct yesterday he often kicked sensibly towards Dunne rather than an aimless boot forward. Going back to problem with crosses, this wasnβt helped by Wrexham putting someone directly in front of him at corners with no QPR defender standing between them. At one corner, he was bundled to the floor and only just got up in time to make a save. |
Although, if you look, I think you'll find our first goal against Charlton began with an excellent throw-out from Walsh to Dembele.

Walsh/Nardi π on 09:03 - Sep 14 by dmm | It's been suggested that Cooper will return from Barnsley in January. From what I know of him he is a great shot stopper. But, as others have also commented, he's short for a keeper. It's a growing trend now to have a more traditional striker to get on the end of crosses and set pieces. We need a keeper who will effectively compete for high balls. I'm not sure Cooper is that keeper. Nardi is probably the choice now for some time with Walsh out, but his obvious aerial weakness will cost us again as it has in the past. Salamon, at 6' 4", has the physique but I don't think is ready for the Championship. The keeper issue is one yet to be solved. [Post edited 14 Sep 9:07]

I get that the archetype / preferred keeper is 6ft 4, etc, and Cooper is shy of that, but he's had multiple seasons with rave reviews in League 1 which is a physical, often direct and cross-heavy league, if he can excel there I don't see him having an issue in the Championship. It would make sense to me to recall him, give him games, and get Walsh going the other way for 6 months of regular game time. In the meantime I'm grateful we have Nardi to come in, if we had sold or loaned him we'd be struggling.

Walsh/Nardi π on 17:32 - Sep 13 by baz_qpr | Thought we saw the best and worst of Nardi today, far better with his feet and positioning and made some good and important saves, but the failure to come and get the ball or deal with crosses was a big part of what allowed Wrexham to get on top 2nd half as it just kept coming back, nothing worse than seeing your centre backs having to head the ball in their own 6 yard box as far as the edge of the area when the keeper could and should have claimed |
The thing is, in every game there are two teams and both are trying really hard. The fact that the opposition team comes into the game at some point, is pretty much a given. They are bound to. There are eleven of their payers straining with every fiber of their being to get on top and at some point they are going to have a spell. Wrexham has a 20 minute spell (out of 90) when they looked like they had their act together and during it they scored a well-taken header from a corner. Very hard to keep out for goalie when it comes that fast and through that many bodies. There is no point pointing fingers and acing surprised. In the end, we didn't give up the lead and we were never really in danger of doing so. Good performance all round. Enjoy the feeling

Both teams are trying really hard?? How much have you *really* watched us over the past couple of seasons?
