Swansea City v Millwall : Match day thread on 10:21 - Sep 28 by RichardO | Is Franco being dropped a victim of the poor relationship between Key and Ronald? These two are getting enough space to cause opposition defences a lot more problems than they are, for me that right side is not working effectively as it should be. Incisive passing and getting the ball into the box in a controlled and quick way is not happening as well as it should be. |
Is Benson going to shake that up? Ronald has been scoring goals, but Benson looks like he could open up defences. I’m not sure he’d be a great partner for Key though, he’s going to lose the ball a lot. Would probably be better with a steady Eddie behind him than a wingback

Swansea City v Millwall : Match day thread on 18:27 - Sep 27 by onehunglow | We should be at least learning I’m Not sure Sheehan is Most of the players have shown real promise so quite shy we don’t screw opposition to the floor beats me Frankly, I think none of us knows just wtf is going on and why we can’t see off teams like Milleall who make no secret as to how they want to play |
To be fair we believe that Millwall are going to be crap just because they’re Millwall but they were in the playoff mix last year and will be again because they’re solid, hard to beat and have very good wide players. Our fullbacks aren’t the best defensively but they were ripped apart yesterday. If it wasn’t for an absolutely stunning intervention from Cabango in the first half we would have lost. As good as we know we can be with the obvious potential and ability of this squad we often forget there are 23 other teams in this league who are also have good experienced and talented players too many have premier league squads and massive parachute payments. We have lots of players who are new to playing at this level. Remember how crap we thought Mark Guehi was when he first came here? Took him months to find his feet until we all realised he was one of the best centre backs in the country. The fact we are outplaying teams and still picking up points when we can see the players can get to another level with time and experience is very exciting I reckon.

Interestingly out of 12 games in the Championship 8 were draws showing there's not a lot between most of the club's in the league

Just spoke to PNE mate, they drew at home v Brizzle, who lost at home v Oxford last week. He said PNE, who have been great uptil now, were lucky to get a draw, as you say this league is close
Swansea City v Millwall : Match day thread on 16:19 - Sep 28 with 800 views | RichardO | Just seen the extended highlights of the game, there could be a case that the ref didn't see the pull back given the angle at which he would have seen the incident and yet the assistant ref should have a perfect view how the officials don't call that as a penalty is beyond belief.

Maybe the ref didn’t want his assistants making penalty decisions, though why any ref would prefer that I don’t know. I’ll need to look at it again to see the ref’s view but it was so blatant he should have seen enough.

Would like to see Parker in the mix he has had a number of appearances in the Championship and the Cup, hecseems stronger in defence than Key. Key trying to shield the ball easily pushed off it. Key's pace has got us out of holes, some of his own making at times, thing is don't think we will see Parker much as he is not getting into the squad now. [Post edited 28 Sep 18:20]

Very similar to Key in my book. I’d like to see Benson a bit more as he’s got the ability to beat defenders. I think he’d need a more defensive minded fullback than either of those behind him though. Ronald still deserves to be starting, but I’d like to see Benson coming on earlier

Swap Ronald over to the left and Benson comes on as sub on the right. We will see if rotation is used for the midweek game.

It was a 100% penalty. The lineman must have received a brown envelope before the game.

Very similar to Key because of the way they are being asked play? For me stronger in the tackle and in defence of the ball while in possession of it, Ronald in the one game he played at full back would get a foot in because he was tighter and once he got his body in-between the winger and the ball, like Parker rarely got knocked off the ball. Both Key and Ronald take a lot of touches on the ball because the possession based football but to do that they have to keep the ball moving making it hard for the opposition to get that foot in, keep it too long and you get crowded out, we have seen when Inoussa get the ball he gets it moving quicker if he gets crowded out he gets it away quicker as well if he has support in the middle of the park. There are times when Cabango passes to Ronald miss out Key completely allowing Ronald time and space to do more with the ball. With the understanding developing between Vipotnik and Ronald both getting regularly on the score sheet both would be first choice on my team sheet that may be helped from the quicker, better chances or bigger spaces being created from the other side of the pitch by the other first choice player Inoussa. For me I would have put Ronald up alongside Vipotnik instead of taking him off after together they created a clear goal scoring chance. Hard to work out who to take off at that time when we were starting getting into the ascendancy although as in previous games against Millwall they did change things to try and pick us off getting tighter as we tried playing out from the back, Cabango saving our blushes, Millwall changed things and tried to put us under pressure. Lots of moments in games that managers try to change things to get that upper hand. [Post edited 29 Sep 11:25]

It looked like the ball popped up and possibly hit Inoussa on the hand? Would have been harsh as it looked purely accidental . I was watching on the phone so appearances could have been deceptive
