I finally bit the bullet and bought tickets to Bristol on Saturday. It’s my first visit in 47 years. The last time was in March 1978 and that horrible day when Stan broke his leg,we lost 1-0 in the rain and we got showered with pool balls, coins and other crap from the wurzels from the other side of the open terrace.
And while Boston was sitting in the pub I was trodden on by a police horse on the route march from the station straight to the ground with a police escort.

I gather it’s a slightly better away day now.Probably still the same result though.

I last went to Brizzle 22 years ago. My parents came up from Cornwall and i took my then girlfriend, now wife, so it was the first time they met. Went to the Toby Carvery before the game.

Yeah, roads gets really gnarled up for home games

Lots of smaller car parks and on road (paid) parking a smallish walk away. Depends what way you’re coming in…pub called The Cottage (Butcombe pub, good ales and some lagers) on the water has a car park at the back but no idea what the score is match days

Also some parking near Nova Scotia (coider) pub

Arrive early is the motto I think…good luck

PS lots of (free?) off street parking in roads coming off North Street…Bristol Beer Factory taproom down the end nearest ground as well. Think Konk lives in the area so will be aboe to advise better than me

Parked in the cricket club last time and was very pleasant before and after. Even the bar for away fans just outside the away end is fine. Never any aggro unlike the fun of the 2-2 draw there 20 years or so ago.

One of those annoying weekends where friends rudely get married during the football season so not for me this time.

I'm not sure if we should have banned you after that record...

I've really enjoyed the last couple of trips there. Hope we make a decent effort whatever happens.

That 78 game. The March to the ground very surreal was like humans seeing Aliens for the first time. Thousands staring and gawping. Inside the ground if you were there memorable to say the least.

I wonder if those pubs the peloton had to walk by are still there? As Stow alluded to, I / we used to get to Bristol early and drink in those pubs, play pool for hours against the locals, never had a hint of trouble, yet when the escort went by, they nearly all ran out to give you grief, then back inside as if nothing had happened.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.
