Am I the only one that doesn't put the fan chant together with the song it came from?
I'm not. I can't be!

Like, different parts of the brain not connecting? (Or working, but let's leave that to one side, ya?)

It's like a musical version of Idiot Eureka.

Like Gallen's 'Magic Hat' is 'My Old Man's a Dustman'. Sang it for years before I made the connection.

The latest one, and I really hate this one, is "We've Got Varane....." which I know every club has a version of. It was in my head this weekend, and then! Fan Chant Idiot Eureka!

I'm singing 'Achy Breaky Heart'.
I hated that song. It was the enemy. It's the song that the lad with the scythe would sing when he'd come calling for me.

And now I'm singing it?

So what songs/tunes do our chants come from?

The best one is
'Kone's on fire your defence is terrified'
Cos it's a proper tune n she's bella bella, la luna, te lo darò etc*

Da yoof init.

Louder than us old folk, I join for a verse before my back goes ;-]

I like the Koki one, doesn't work as well in the ground though.

The adams family tune sung to Kiddiminster always gets me, its harsh but very good.

Slightly related but on an LSA or one of Mels coaches we were heading up North and most of the coach were singing the usual Rangers songs when all of a sudden they started singing about Marc Bolan getting killed on Barnes Common I can't remember the words but 90% of the coach were singing It, I looked bemused at my lad and he looked bemused back.
Most of the coach were singing It.

They'd probably been in the White Swan beforehand.

Chicory Tip! I had no idea.

How random. 1972. More than a decade later it became a chant for two Gary's - our Bannister and some Lineker lad.

The only chant i am jealous of Brian, sung by other clubs that wish we had it as a tune for a song for ourselves, is the "Feeling glad all over" chant sung by Palace fans.

Its a real buzzy upbeat song that sounds brilliant when a great majority of their fans sing it, after scoring goals..

Pigbag is good but would not mind another one for celebrations now...

Any suggestions people ???
