The league table, but it's by how close their north stand is aligned to true north!

This is not something I put together, I know this international break has been slow, but I'm not insane.

I bet that if we'd just got the alignment right, the Ellerslie Road bogs would be a magical water-world where the pipes run free. The surveyor was probably a Brentford fan.

Am guessing this has been compiled by a cult member.

If so do they give details of how to join? I need some direction in my life.

Anyone who's ever sat on our north stand, ie the paddocks, on a blazing sunny day, will know just how unrelentingly south facing it is...

So there's a whole rabbit hole here, about the extent to which the orientation of the ground contributed to players being dazzled by the sun. There was an entertaining thread on blue sky on this a while ago. However, the post here suggests that Loftus Road is nearly perfectly east-west (which is exactly how it shouldn't be)

I happened to stumble upon this beauty which was made by @kennethfield.bsky.social - found an old reddit thread about it.

Which you can corroborate with Google maps

Edit. Actually the two things are compatible. The OP is saying that the South Africa road side is nearly perfectly north facing I think? Which means that the Loft / School ends are nearly perfectly east-west.

I'd wondered, as I have seen some dazzling performances at Loftus Rd.

Probably something to do with Lay Lines, or if you join the dots between some clubs, it forms a perfect pentagram, or someone has been drinking in the morning.

The solution here is obvious - buy up the houses in Ellerslie and rotate the ground 90 degrees. Job's a good 'un. You wouldn't even need to dig down.

This could go on the Not a Lot... thread, but maybe everybody does know this.

But the subject discussed here is the derivation of the term South Paw for a left hander.

Baseball stadiums are laid out so that the sun is behind the batter at match time; ie in the west. So a left handed pitcher delivers the ball from his south side hand, or paw...

Wembley is supposedly on an important ley line (hence the name), and hence why the stadium was built there and why it didn't get moved.

Because druids/illuminati innit.
