Just by name alone, rightly or wrongly, they were guaranteed to survive. When is the decision on this scaled down structure being announced?

Is anyone really surprised, the mantra "what's good for Cardiff is good for the rest of Wales" has seemingly spread into sport .

Supposed to be by the end of October, but they will drag it out. If I was a betting man they will announce three regions at the end of the month then go into consultation which three. We all know it should be the Dragons going but they have a new contract with the WRU and compensation will need to be paid.

That is my guess as well.

Cardiff Rugby on 17:46 - Oct 13 with 1200 views | EagleEye | There is no logical reason why the WRU should have to give each region the same amount of funding. The strongest (usually Ospreys or Scarlets) should get more than the weakest Newport. That is the way of the world in professional sport. If 2 regions is the answer there will be a mass exodus of Wales best players. Far fewer people will travel to watch Wales play. WRU are playing a dangerous game that could end getting even worse than the current situation

Disgusting in it where's the fairness to the three other two teams and the one region team. Corrupt to the core like virtually everything else.

Cardiff Rugby on 18:48 - Oct 13 with 1136 views | max936 | Watched a rerun of Ospreys v Zebre on S4C yesterday and I was shocked at what they've become loads and loads of basic mistakes which cost them at least 3/4 tries, Zebre were awful as well, but that doesn't alter on how bad the Ospreys were. And it’s not going to get better Max. I would imagine the better Welsh players are already looking towards their future….and its not in Wales.

Several have already agreed pre contract agreements in principle with R360, that's not opinion but fact. This is what is putting the extra pressure on the WRU, currently there is a get out in the agreements but it will come to a head.

Don't blame them, but I was struggling to see any quality in that Ospreys squad I/ watched last night Morse, Lake, Edwards and Walsh looked ok, not fussed on Hardy.

Cardiff Rugby on 01:44 - Oct 14 with 894 views | Robbie | If the WRU get their way with a Two Region solution based on this Seasons results so far . The Scarlets must be at risk of being a casualty . Newly built new Stadium , but the crowds are poor , should have stayed at Stradey Park . Ospreys are downgrading their costs basis and getting out of The Liberty quickly and moving to a more sensilbe upgraded venue , back to St. Helens . Dragons and Scarlets in the danger zone .

The Osprey fan base won't tolerate a merging with Scarlets and nor would the Scarlets fans, the same can probably be said about Dragons and a Cardiff merger. [Post edited 14 Oct 17:17]

This is why there will be three regions with the Dragons going after a financial settlement. Then guess what Cardiff will have a larger catchment area and double the resources.

That was probably always the plan we some in the WRU at least. Everything is Cardiff based as it is and we can thank the useless lot in the Senedd for that and the one or ones who thought up the Senedd. The rest of Wales were better off when the WDA had their feet under the table, but some couldn't wait to see the back of that organisation, no doubt the useless Drakeford and his fellow useless cronies.

An American group want to buy Cardiff off the WRU providing they remain [obviously they will], this money will be used to pay off the Dragons who will be owed compensation for their 5 year contract which they signed with the WRU in May.

I hope they’ve not booked the diggers for St Helen’s yet because anything can happen.

I think they are starting to listen to the players more. There needs to be a compromise by all sides or Welsh rugby is going to take a generation to recover if ever. The day of English clubs having Welsh based academies is not far away unless the WRU listen and act.
