If Bournemouth win tomorrow they will be top of The Premier League. 22:24 - Oct 17 with 972 viewssaintmark1976

Given the timing of the Saturday and Sunday fixtures it may only be for a few hours but some achievement if it were to happen.

Hard to accept their progress and our decline over a relatively short period of time.

Proof that despite what Mr Parsons says it is possible for the smaller clubs to make a decent fist of it with a supportive owner and sensible management.

Good luck to them to be honest. A properly run club. Our fans are far too accepting of our failures, when "success" is clearly possible.

Err we know that we’ve been there and done that ourselves finishing 6 th , top 8 four years running Europe several times over 50 odd years , finishing runners up in 84 .Several cup semi finals and finals all competitions.

Too many nippers on here seen fook all I reckon . I’ve had brilliant times watching saints over 55 years . You don’t hear Forest or Leeds fans moaning about their many years in the championship whilst we were top league.

I've still got a photo of the league table from 06.11.20 when we went top, I think we beat Newcastle on the Friday night if memory serves me correctly.

That's because, in spite of the fact they have a smaller all-time average attendance than us, Forest have won 9 major trophies while we've only won 1. Anyway, Forest fans were moaning like hell when they ended up in the Championship. I expect Leeds fans were too. Saints fans are about the only ones I know who were happy to be relegated to the Championship.

What you say is totally wrong. Forest fans and Leeds fans had huge protests, ensuring their clubs got back to the top. Much bigger than our wet lettuce fans would ever do.

And West Ham and Everton fans protest like crazy because their fans demand success, instead of celebrating failure. They apply pressure, put demands on their clubs.

Forest fans are real moaners. Just about any game they don't win, they moan. But, of course, even though they have a slightly smaller fanbase than ours, their expectations are much, much higher. I don't really know Leeds fans but I expect their expectations are high too and that they moan just as much.

Many of our fans, fortunately not all of them, remind me of that Two Ronnies sketch "I know my place," except they think it's much lower than it really should be.

You’re correct.
Our fan base just accept whatever happens, turn up at games, clap the players off.

It’s a shame.

Some of us have a backbone. We don’t want to stay in the championship but there’s no point being in the premier league if you don’t spend the money otherwise we’ll get humiliated you want that do you ? We either get new owners in or Solak gets help financially. There really is no point in going up until we’re ready to compete . Bournemouth Brighton palace etc are spending millions on players we won’t . It really isn’t that difficult to understand.

My point is Forest and Leeds spent fkin years in the championship whilst we were in the premier league some of our fans have no pride they just want to moan all the time. Self entitled brats. Go and join the real world have a chat with Barnsley or Port vale fans for an hour they’ll sort you out and laugh in your face when you moan about Saints. Some fans would give anything to have what we’ve had in the last 50 years .

And I will keep F@CKING moaning if I want to. You can keep clapping failure and tell me how great it is that we have won 2 home games in two years if you like. Nil nil against Pompey, nil nil against Swansea maybe exciting for you but not for me. We should be doing better, with the amount spent on the team. When the crowds dwindle, empty seats everywhere today because the football is sh!t, you can clap with a few thousand others in league one. This club has been f@cked by these owners and I will say what I f@cking think, as have fans of other clubs, who don't put up with it. You say what the f@ck you like, and so will I. Just dont say things like Forest fans were great when they were all outside the ground en masse protesting, as saying things that can be proved untrue, isnt very clever.

If you want to see real moaning in the real world, you should look at some of the other clubs' messageboards, like Forest's. They moan all the time:

https://www.forestforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/matchday-8-nottingham-forest-v-c

But, they wouldn't even win the East Midlands championship for whingeing fans; Leicester fans are even worse. They even moaned when they were top of the Championship because they lost a game and thought they might not go up.

Our fans are, for a club of our size, probably the least self-entitled in the country.

You're right Dirk. West Ham were about to storm the pitch if Potter wasn't sacked. Leicester fans were singing sack the board, when they beat us 2 nil in the PL. As it happens, the fansbase is turning at St Mary's. Only just 27000 there today and loud boos at the end.

Nowhere near 27000 today. That’s the figure they declare including season ticket holders who increasingly can’t be bothered to make the effort to turn up.

Understandable given that we’ve only won four league games out of the last forty eight attempts, a win ratio fast approaching the giddy highs of 8% .

Still never mind, the happy clappers now have a greater opportunity to give Sports Republic money in hospitality, fans zones, The Dell Pub and Level One, so all is well at St Mary’s.

If Dean Court, or whatever they call it nowadays, wasn’t so tiny I suspect more football fans might go there for their football entertainment.
Heresy I know, but I’m not giving these people another penny.

They're 4th and they haven't lost for ages. They've won 5 major trophies and they've won the Championship 8 times. Their last game was a 3-1 away win at Swansea:

How fans of other clubs moan:

https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/138166-portsmouth-match-thread/page/33/#commen

If fans of clubs like Forest, Leeds and Leicester were where we are now, they'd be incandescent with rage and indignation.......

You are correct.
It is easy to understand.
Unless we spend money we are going to stagnate in this league.
