I read that the guy who crossed the channel twice was help in a "pavillion" in France not a hotel claiming his life was unbearable there and unsafe.
He will be arguing France is not a safe place to be so he must live in UK.
Immigration is as tricky subject . The Ukrainian s have fitting in well and have shown their gratitude which is good to see. I know a lot of Syrians and they are very pleasant people and well educated. Not particularly religious either. No more at threat to UK ways as Catholics in many cases.
Wales should not take anyone from Gaza other than for medical treatment. Gazans belong in Gaza under USA protection if the US are keen to get involved and rebuild the place. Hamas have to be removed preferably a with Likud going too. [Post edited 25 Oct 18:00]

I'm not against a certain level of immigration and a reasonable number of deserving refugees, including the Ukrainians who enter under a country-specific social protection scheme. The problem is that if we help cases like that we need to exert tighter control over those whose backgrounds we cannot check, and also - for practical reasons - have an overall ceiling on total immigration.
