I notice that we have almost sold out of the free tickets for seating. The mainstand is sold out and there are about 150 tickets left in the Pearl Street. Hope that those that have reserved a free seat turn up on the night. Looking like another 3000+ gate.

Indeed. There are no seats left now - just the Sandy Lane terrace. The club may decide to open Wilbutts stand.

There were loads of seats vacant in the Main Stand and this happened in the last match too. To my mind people are buying seats for £0.00 and not turning up. Are they doing this for devilment?

Jesus saves but Beasley scores off the rebound.

Quite possible that the rain and the cold stopped people from turning up last night.
The club wants to to improve the matchday attendence in the league then surely the manager should be taking this competition seriously...

Let's play Mani D, Rodney, Gordon etc. The league is the priority and it is a bloody hard league to get out of.

We won our first two games in the competition and did quite well, we lost last night and it was poor.

The squad in all three games has been used pretty much in the same way. I don’t think anyone has changed their mind in how the competition is approached.

Now, if the club were to offer people £5 to turn up to these fixtures...

And i'm only half joking...

Fiver off a league match or a voucher for a free pie?

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

The first goal is so avoidable.. That sets the tone.

Glaring miss from Levi and Smith hasn't shot with any venom on target since his arrival..

Its all so obvious and easy to read.

The next time we implode defensively in a league game and drop valuable points it will be very disappointing.

First Team selected and a bounce back next opportunity when it really matters v Scunthorpe.

Whilst the first goal is really poor (second not much better), talk of whether we “implode defensively” in a league game overlooks how we’ve played all season. See, again, the much lauded first goal against Yeovil when there was, in my opinion, some very risky passing around our own box. Especially by Whatmuff.

We can’t have it both ways and can only hope the players get it right and make the right decisions.
Our defensive record illustrates we have so far.

You don't need to be forgiven BR, but if you "read the room" it'd be obvious there's committed Daleys who just aren't arsed about this competition, and especially this season when the focus has just got to be elsewhere

The alternative points about game-time for those not starting at the moment, plus the potential income from advancing in the tournament have been well-rehearsed, and applied even to the FA Cup game against York

So no... it's plain you're not alone, but neither is it a "boycott" as such - it's just not being arsed about it

Amatchi is just not good enough, and Smith is not looking much better, the thought of a Mani d injury is terrifying.

Don’t be terrified, against Solihull Moors Amantchi started as Mani was suspended and we won 4-1. He held the ball up well and layed it off well that night. Certainly better than Mitchell ever did for us. Mani he ain’t, but he is better as a target man than many teams can call upon from the bench at this level. Certainly fully occupies a defender.

I would have to disagree, I think Amantchi has been dire in all his games thus far (including Solihull). Mitchell, for all his faults, still managed to find the net on a pretty regular basis, something Levi hasn't looked remotely like doing. His late 'effort' last night was so poor I actually laughed out loud and for someone of his size and stature he rarely wins headers or holds up the ball. His one shining moment came against Burnley U21's with an (admittedly good) header and I thought that he might at least have some use when we're chasing a game and slinging over crosses for him to cause a bit of chaos, but that's not really the way we play.

Can't remember the stats, but didn’t Mitchell play for some time before he found the back of the net? I'd take Amantchi over him any day. He's not made an impact so far but it's unfair to be expecting much in the limited chances he's had

He's clearly still raw, in the same way a young David Cross was raw and pilloried in his first few games (if you stretch back that far?) but another more recent example is Glenn Murray

Give the lad a chance. We have had plenty worse in that target man role, Paul Williams to name but one.

Mitchell for Dale?

He scored in his third and fourth games for us.

You mean you STILL haven't worked out why some posts get down-ticked?

Good stat hunting, but there was a distinct perception (if i could be arsed to look up the threads) that he wasn't the kind of goalscorer we needed and that his confidence when presented with chances was poor - his "conversion rate" that is

Whilst that improved for a period of time, the wider point about Amantchi's potential not yet being reaiised is another matter, which won't become visible until their respective careers (Mitchell / Amantchi) can be compared

Fair enough, maybe I'm being too harsh and prematurely judging him. Will be delighted if I'm way off the mark and he proves me completely wrong (again).

Are you thinking of Luke Charman? - he was well into double figure games for Dale as a forward before eventually scoring.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Amantchi is 24 years old has made 149 appearances for umpteen clubs and scored 38 goals...1 in every 4 games.. he has pace and height but seems a bit "awkward' .
Much of his experience has been at a lower level . I think there is a player in there, but if its as a centre forward is open to debate, maybe he is more of a Peter Vincenti essentially a very tall right winger using his pace, and he would be a menace coming in from the back onto left wing crosses ( similar to his goal against Burnley?)....Certainly last night his best moments were wider on the right hand side of the pitch ( other than his late effort which was very much hit and hope than a surgical strike) but still, his running is impressive and you can see why clubs have played him as a centre forward, but maybe it just isn't " his" position. Perhaps Jim can find a more suitable one for him and unlock his full potential....
