Afternoon

Cant see one started so here goes:

Dependant on who is available, I am going for a safe 1-1 as I dont think Critchley will want to lose, so we may utilise some s**t housery of ourselves at the home of S**T housery!!

Is it just me that thought that performance from Laird today in the first half especially was absolutely immense?

That was won by every single one of our players working their nuts off: out-battled Preston and were by far the better team. Dunne, Paal and Field all brilliant today, MOTM will be a close run thing.
Well done QPR, fantastic early Christmas present to the 450+ that made it up there.

Firstly, I wasn't going to watch the game but couldn't resist the second half after Dave B said it was on the red button.

I was very down after last Sunday, particulary with the two loanees, but everyone worked & tried in the 45 minutes I saw.

Most of all, I'm so pleased for the 450 (or whatever figure it was), that braved the weather & train strikes to be there. You deserve this victory & apart from the designated drivers, I hope you celebrate long & hard!

How about going back to book the PNE player after the advantage he gave to Tim which came to nothing? Looks one sided reffing to me.

New law, yellow would have been for breaking up promising attack, played advantage so attack was not stopped, therefore no yellow card.

Same as denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity, you play advantage and opportunity happens, you can't go back and send the player off.

Big performance and the response I was hoping for after last weekend. Credit to all the players and Critchley and his coaching staff. Standing ovation to the supporters who made the journey to Preston. Heroes the lot of you.

Great win. Good team spirit. If we can become more clinical then it should be onwards and upwards. Pleased for the team above all as I was disappointed with the pelters on here after Burnley who were different class.

"Will the real QPR please stand up?"

Let's hope they just have. Well done to the players, the fans who trekked up to Preston in midwinter, and above all to Critchley (and many happy returns.)

PS just went on to Twitter to find Tim Sherwood trending. Always a scary thing to read and with some trepidation I clicked on the link. Worth a gander if you've not seen it yet...

Gotta feel sorry for the PNE players who left the pitch at the final whistle on stretchers covered in their own shithousery.

Take that bitches.

Sorry just coming back to this - the Preston player did attempt to play the ball though? He was initially down "injured" but he was back on his feet by the time the second ball came in, and made an attempt to play the dropping ball which prompted Dunne to knock it behind before it reached him. Academic in the grand scheme of things, particularly if we hold on for the win, but it was definitely offside.

Thought he was barely standing let alone challenging Dunne for the ball.

If he challenged before that he wasn't offside then I didn't think, would have to see it all again (which I will on Monday!) as you say, who cares now!

Fantastic win and a solid performance against a Preston team who were high on confidence after winning 4 of their last 5. The desire, determination, work-rate and heart that has been so lacking in recent weeks was back in abundance. With a little more care in the final third, QPR could have added to their tally. Well done Critchley and the boys; you've set the standard, now lets maintain it.

Listening to the Preston commentary and they’re very unhappy about the “gamesmanship”.

I presume they only started watching Preston this week

Well we were told that Critchley would be pragmatic. Noticeably a lot less playing out from the back, much more direct.

As needs must, we needed to turn round the losing streak. Excellent win, promising performance.

Deserved win, and well done to the ref for not bowing to being constantly surrounded by the men in white.

Thought Albert was a passenger first half, but superb second. Laird good throughout but first half especially was superb, and Tim was absolute class, so unlucky not to score. Loan players are easy targets for some fans, but both stood up today.

Hard to pick a player of the match, but Field has to be up there (again), while the whole defence played very well bar the odd error. Seny very good I thought.

I normally hate sh!thousery, but I make an exception for when we play Preston. The irony of their fans getting annoyed with us taking time over free kicks was so delicious I haven't got room for dinner.

Bare bones.

A law which makes no sense - get fouled but have the strength/ability to carry on and the player committing the foul gets away with it.

For me, the big difference in style of play was the very pragmatic approach Critchley took. It was a bit ugly at times, a lot more long ball, getting the ball forward quickly and basic stuff, but it worked a treat. I'll take that as a great start to his time with us.

It was a delightful win - many great performances, but Uncle was superb for me. And Field, as always...

Delightful for a few reasons;

1.) To see the usual annual Preston sh1t-hosery vanish towards the end. When their sub came on, it was a like a scene from Benny Hill, he ran that fast.

Even the ball boys were lightning.

2.) I won £490 with a Dunne goal and 1-0 win

3.) Delightful for the Critch and the boys...

Yes, agree on the tactics - as Andy mentioned on comms, Dykes and Willock a lot furher forward and looking to get in behind rather than coming short.

Obviously you can't do that 100% of the time, but that seemed to be the intention.

1st half Dozzell and Laird much much more positive than Sunday as well.

Yes PNE were poor 1st half, but 2nd I thought showed why they WERE 6th, some good passing, some physicality and a well organised defence, but anyway who cares about them, kts about the team currently in 6th and yes that's us folks!

MATCH ANALYSIS
Preston 0, QPR 1
Whatever Neil Critchley fed the players this week - well we want some of that!
Now that's what I call a real new manager bounce.
Up three places from last weekend to sixth.
Who says we can't be there or thereabouts at the end of the season?
And on this performance - no reason why not.
It is quite incredible that we can play absolute rubbish for six matches and then put on a display like this. Same squad - same players.
As they say it's all to do with confidence and belief - and somehow it must have to do with NC and his coaching staff.
What else can it be?
You could tell the way we started.
There was certainly a hunger for the ball.
Solid marking, closing down the opposition - against an in-form side that was 6th!
Then add in a sprinkling of genius from our loan players Laird and Tim.
They were both outstanding and let's hope - in this form - they will continue at our club until the end of the season.
Laird - strong and powerful - certainly while inside the opposition's half and Tim - yes still very raw - but his blinding speed surging forward was impressive.
Add the rest of the team too - solid defence with Dunne outstanding along with JCS and Paal, and Field in defensive midfield.
Yes we are still a work in progress - certainly with such a small squad and yes still lacking the final touch to our forward raids.
And we rode our luck in the closing stages when Preston missed some solid chances.
But we deserved this - after all we've been through the last few weeks - players, management and us fans.
So well done to all - and that includes Willock who looks nowhere near healthy and was subbed towards the finish by Shodipo.
When Illy returns - hopefully that will boost Willock to what he is capable of doing.
As for Shodipo - well for the second successive match he proved to be a very good sub.
And Albert? He had a full 90 minutes. He was in and out of the game. But his experience proved useful certainly in the second half.
The goal - just before the hour - a Paal corner into the 6 yard box - and it bounced off Dunne's knee it seemed for that winner. Who cares. We won.
So a great weekend - especially as it's been nearly two months since we last achieved a Championship victory.
