Why are commentators like Drury and Matterface so in love with their opening 5 minute soliloquy full of puns and cliches and sycophantic rubbish? It's not Dancing on Ice.
And Drury's screaming of the player's name who shoots is pathetic.
Compare to the simple Coleman "one-nil"
Or the Davies "interesting......VERY interesting!"

I listened on the radio while cooking Sunday lunch. I often find you get a better commentary on the radio, and even though it was the much-derided Matterface, he was good, as was Stuart Pearce alongside him.
Later, I watched the highlights, and you're right: Dury sounded completely demented. It's a game of football mate, not Liverpool winning the third world war. |  |

Age is one factor but also need to consider experience/first team appearances and cost. Big difference between £88.5m Mudryk with 16 caps for Ukraine, champions league appearances etc vs 18 year old Jayden Danns making only his second appearance for Liverpool first team. |  | | |

Because he tries to make every single moment a highlight that in 5/10 years time will look amazing as a 30 second clip on youtube. I think it was Gallagher in the last few minutes of normal time where really he should have scored and he shouts something like “This is Connor Gallagher”. If that goal goes in and he wins the cup that moment will become iconic for years, instead it was a decent save and the shouting wasn’t needed.

Terrible decision by Sky
I watched him just a few days later Ted after the spitting, being interviewed by one of the Sky Sports News Presenters saying how bad it was, what he had done.
To be honest I was stunned Sky did not get rid of him. Think he was saved because Sky believe him and Gary Neville work as pundits together.
