We love our former U's, well most of them anyway, so thought I'd start a thread where we can keep up with them.
Thought I'd kick things off with a happier moment for Matt Jay in Essex as he scored a long ranger against Chelmsford at the weekend. It wasn't a joyous return though as Torquay shipped two late goals to lose 3-2 after leading 2-0.
Matt Jay made it four in four for Torquay on Tuesday night.
Talking about former U's in Devon did anyone foresee Joe Edwards going on to have the career he's had? Over 500 appearances in total now with over 200 for Plymouth mainly in League One and the Championship.
Huddersfield caretaker boss Jon Worthington made a dream start as his side reclaimed sixth place in League One with an emphatic win over Crawley.
The Terriers had not scored in their previous six home games going back to December under previous boss Michael Duff, but netted four times inside the opening 30 minutes against the relegation strugglers.
Joe Taylor tapped home a third-minute opener on his return to the starting line-up from injury, converting a simple chance on the rebound after Callum Marshall had a close-range effort saved.
Braintree eased any lingering National League relegation fears by denting Gateshead's promotion chances with a comeback win at the International Stadium.
The visitors started in determined fashion well with Chay Cooper forcing keeper Tiernan Brooks into an early save and John Akinde heading just wide.
Kyrell Lisbie might have had Braintree level before half-time, only to steer brother Kyreece's cross wide, but the pair combined 12 minutes after the restart to set up Cooper to level.
The visitors went ahead through Akinde's penalty and increased their lead three minutes later when Kyreece Lisbie fired home from Cooper's cross to extend the Heed's losing run to four games.
Former 'U' Luke Hannant started and played the full 90' for Gateshead. (Still a hero for that goal at Portman Rd!)
R. Clampin -played full 90' M. Marshall-Miranda 55', Yellow Card at 55 minute and then subbed off at 86'. A. Judge came on as an 82' sub.

ghughes thank you for the update. Pleased for Braintree and for the former and current U's
Wealdstone winger Todd Miller has left the club after both parties agreed to the mutual termination of his contract.
The 22-year-old made six appearances at the club having joined at the start of the current season.
I said this on the Official Col U Messageboard back in Aug 2023: "Not quite "The One That Got Away", and I'm sure we missed out on a load of appearance fee bonuses and potential sell-on clauses.
Hope the lad finds his feet in the National League and forges a career for himself! Looked a bit lost leading the line for Donny last season I thought."
Not sure what is next the for lad unfortunately? Maybe a stint at Braintree will help!

Poor Todd. Obviously we'll never know but I do wonder if his career might have turned out better had he have stayed here rather than leave when he did. He's still young though so plenty of time to turn it around. Craig Eastmond looked to be going nowhere fast at a similar age but ended up having a pretty decent career at Sutton, not going quite so well for him at Wealdstone either though. Sometimes it's all about finding your feet and your confidence and enjoy playing football again, the rest will follow after that.
Michael O Donoghue, came up through the academy, got injured , played couple of games in left back position. Now had several season plying his trade at Harringay Borough, Isthiam league North Division, got a red card last weekend.

That is tough on the lad. As you say, we'll never know how things might have turned out, but it would take a special kind of maturity for a teenager not to be tempted by the bright lights of the Premier League. I hope he finds somewhere soon from which to restart his career aspirations.
York's hopes of automatic promotion from the National League were dealt a blow with a 2-1 defeat against Braintree. veteran John Akinde fired in from outside the box to make it 1-0. Assist: R. Clampin.
R. Clampin full 90' M. Marshall-Miranda full 90' K. Lisbie (not sure which brother is the Col U loanee - however one was subbed off at 62' and the other at 88'). C. Cooper subbed off at 69' J. Akinde full 90' A. Judge unused sub
"Stoke City bolstered their chances of Championship survival with a convincing 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers.
Bae Jun-ho slid in the Potters' opener from close range thanks to Junior Tchamadeu's low cross before the right back got a goal of his own goal from the edge of the area just before half-time."
