A massive game tomorrow away to Wycombe. It could go a long way in deciding who goes up automatically with Birmingham.

In terms of Empire, you are correct in that welsh people were involved.
However Wales was not involved.

Thats an important distinction.

How disgraceful of you to dismiss the deaths and sacrifices of so many Welshmen and women who died to ensure you could draw breath , they may have been fighting under the Union flag but that flag encompassed the whole of the UK ,Wales included.

Except i never said any of that.

I know you see life from a squaddie perspective but not everyone does.
You have gone of the deep end, you are like the male version of a Karen always seeking to be outranged and wanting to speak to the manager.
I say this with all due respect - ‘Karen sit down’ …..

I was actually talking about the business and commerce and admin of empire.
Welsh people played their part, but wales had no national govt to choose to engage or not.
Empire - good and bad - was wholly delivered by London rule.

No need to apologise.
I expect you to be both wrong and ignorant.

Its the same people and the same land mass.

You are the only person who actually worries about this.

They spoke welsh, there was nobody else here.
They were the ancesters of todays welsh.

I am not sure its too much for you to be able to join the dots, its not that hard.

The English and Normans arrived later see ….

Same land but hardly the same people, Macsen and his Roman legions weren't from these shores. I wonder how much Spanish DNA inhabits you?

They didn't speak Welsh, they were Celts, not Welsh, the word "Welsh" was first used much later by the Anglo-Saxons to describe those tribes living in what is today Wales and it basically means foreigner, they called us foreigners in our own country.

PS, the "English" didn't arrive, they evolved out of the Angles and Saxons.

This is why I post this stuff, I enjoy getting you to exhibit your ignorance on Welsh history.

I asked AI about this.

You are wrong again, outstanding work that man …

So repeat after me …

‘Today’s Welsh people are the cultural and, to a significant extent, genetic descendants of the pre-Roman Brittonic tribes of Britain. Their language, traditions, and even some place names directly trace back to those ancient roots.’

And

‘The relationship between the pre-Roman peoples of Great Britain and today’s Welsh people is one of cultural and genetic continuity, particularly through the ancient Brittonic tribes who lived in what is now Wales’.

Not being funny but you might want to sack your researchers ..

Wales are not represented on that flag boundy, we are under the saes flag unfortunately.

I will never recognise that flag until the cross of St David is part of it but unfortunately that will never happen 🤷‍♂️

I am a patriot and love Wales but decline to whitewash our involvement in the atrocities of the British Empire. We as a people need to accept the sins of our ancestors apologise and move on trying to be fair and just.

The Welsh were clearly involved in the slave trade. Watching the NFL tells you that with the Welsh surnames well to the fore with the Afro American players.

Turkiye has gone the other way and their people brand us as vicious imperialist forgetting their bloody 400 year Ottoman Empire and the Armenians more recently..

Not true.

Why would black Americans keep the names of hated slave owners ?

In fact, it was faith the black Americans shared with welsh preachers that is the link.
The welsh preachers risked their lives to run the southern slaves to the free north.
They took the names of the preachers.

I am sure its a mix of stuff, but this is s significant part of their story.

There are links but here is one example;
‘The answer to your question is that Welsh Quaker families that were conductors along the routes of the Underground Railroad gave the run-away slaves their family names. New names, new life and names of Friends not their former masters. My Jones ancestors were conductors at their farm station 6 miles northwest of Marion Indiana. Iechyd da!’

Read your post again, then read mine and tell me specifically which part is wrong. Good grief mun do you understand nothing.

Get a DNA profile done and see how much DNA you share with Spanish people, many Welsh people have as much as 30%.

Now a researcher, how about Steven Oppenheimer of Oxford University,

walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/basque-ing-in-welsh-dna-2281798

wales247.co.uk/ancestry-dna-shows-genetic-link-between-wales-and-spain#google_vignette

Jeepers Kilky, can you get anything right? Maybe you'd be better off on a fence?
