A massive game tomorrow away to Wycombe. It could go a long way in deciding who goes up automatically with Birmingham.

Read your post again, then read mine and tell me specifically which part is wrong. Good grief mun do you understand nothing.

Get a DNA profile done and see how much DNA you share with Spanish people, many Welsh people have as much as 30%.

Now a researcher, how about Steven Oppenheimer of Oxford University,

Jeepers Kilky, can you get anything right? Maybe you'd be better off on a fence?

Here's an ESPN story on Wrexham, Reynolds, how the got to where they are now, and their prospects of getting promoted to PL. Very interesting and a good read!

Not true.

Why would black Americans keep the names of hated slave owners ?

In fact, it was faith the black Americans shared with welsh preachers that is the link.
The welsh preachers risked their lives to run the southern slaves to the free north.
They took the names of the preachers.

I am sure its a mix of stuff, but this is s significant part of their story.

There are links but here is one example;
‘The answer to your question is that Welsh Quaker families that were conductors along the routes of the Underground Railroad gave the run-away slaves their family names. New names, new life and names of Friends not their former masters. My Jones ancestors were conductors at their farm station 6 miles northwest of Marion Indiana. Iechyd da!’

Interesting post but is sounds a little bit too good to be true. I have met some pretty horrible Welsh people iny time. There is no s doubt that Welsh settler Integrated with slaves in those time and Welsh surnames were adopted.

There was decades of this mixing with no doubt uplifting examples ( that you identify) and less honourable to ones. Black Bart was a particularly nasty piece of work and absolutely barbaric.

I can only wish them well. However, the true test of loyalty and interest will be once the sun begins to set on this empire, as it inevitably will. It's what happens to clubs like us and them.

Promotion to the "promised land" will complete the fairytale, but once the 6-0 hammerings begin and they have a season like Southampton/Derby it'll be the season after that which we fans will watch with interest...

Which is more or less what I've been saying. They can rise, have their time in the sun just like we did. But for clubs of our size the sun does eventually set and we return to a more sustainable position

The documentary, the American interest, it'll wane. The hirdes of extra fans from other countries, they'll jump onto the next bandwagon and the true fans will be left, there'll be a few more maybe and some from overseas will stay loyal but most will vanish.

Thus is modern sport.

Genuine question.
Why do you think Wrexham have achieved what they have compared to Salford?
I've had a look at the wealth of the two main guys Reynolds and Beckham and they are similar around £350m-£450m each.
They've had Salford since 2014.
You would think that ex footballers would have more nouse and ambition to move their club through the leagues..
Is it the Wrexham guys don't interfere with the running of their club?
Thoughts?

Many factors. Beckham is more interested in his team in America. The Wrexham owners have the "Hollywood vibe" and used it well to promote the club through various media formats, increasing sales through the roof. They are often seen in Wrexham itself investing time and money in the local community.

They are not getting to the Premier league with signings like Callum Robinson that is for sure.
Darling has Premier league potential but not PL clubs in for him it seems.

Perhaps SCFC should be in for the Ukrainian at Plymouth. Some company for Kuharevych.

Being reported this morning that Wrexham are going to sign Tom Cairney on a free from Fulham, at an eye watering up to 50k a week!

He's 34 it will certainly boost his retirement pot

Wrexham seem to like signing older players on high wages, it seems to be their business model. No fees to another club and I don't remember them selling many players at a profit either. Is this sustainable.

Isn’t it their commercial income that keeps them well within P&S? Profit from selling players is probably pocket change compared to that.

Yes it is and we realise the need to increase this type of income stream, hence Modric coming onboard.

Just as we’re starting to get our act together we’ve got two financially doped teams to deal with.

Wrexham and Birmingham are going to be linked with everyone this summer though. They won’t sign a fraction of them.

You're right, they'll be linked with practically everybody, it's silly season.

Personally I think signing Cairney on 50k a week is beyond stupid. he has no sell on value, assuming I am right and he wants at least a 2 year deal. At 34 he is a massive gamble.

I've seen this on the talksport site,

Wrexham’s Hollywood owners McElhenney and Reynolds value the importance of experience in the squad, as it has proved fruitful over the past three seasons.

Boss Parkinson has added 36-year-old captain James McClean to his ranks, while Jay Rodriguez at 35 and 38-year-old Steven Fletcher have also played their part, with all three veterans boasting top flight experience.

In addition to the potential addition of Cairney, Wrexham have been linked with a move for outgoing Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy who will play his last game for the Foxes this weekend.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Look at the ages of them, Cairney is the youngest, it's one thing having experience, it's another entirely to have a team where all your best players could be kanckered by Christmas because they are old. 50k too, it's more than his basic at Fulham.

They are underestimating the intensity and frequency of Championship matches, the older players will not be able to play two matches a week. You need a balanced squad, using so much of your salary budget on old players is a recipe for disaster. It may start ok but it will catch up on you.

I am a patriot and love Wales but decline to whitewash our involvement in the atrocities of the British Empire. We as a people need to accept the sins of our ancestors apologise and move on trying to be fair and just.

The Welsh were clearly involved in the slave trade. Watching the NFL tells you that with the Welsh surnames well to the fore with the Afro American players.

Turkiye has gone the other way and their people brand us as vicious imperialist forgetting their bloody 400 year Ottoman Empire and the Armenians more recently..

Why should I or anyone else today be expected to apologise for actions carried out by others in a different era, under different circumstances, and societal norms? History is complex, and while it's important to acknowledge and learn from it, holding individuals accountable for the deeds of distant ancestors serves little purpose in promoting genuine understanding or progress.

By the same logic, I don't expect to be personally thanked for the many significant contributions that British civilisation has made to the modern world. These achievements, like past wrongs, were the result of a broader historical context not the work of any one individual alive today.

Let us recognise history in its full complexity both the good and the bad, without selectively assigning blame or credit across generations.

Yes, they have a unique model that’s based almost entirely on generating revenue based on who their owners are.

Nothing untoward, technically the club is generating the income, but in reality it’s not.

I’ll be happy when Reynolds gets bored and Wrexham find their natural level.
