Madsen on 09:37 - Apr 10 by nadera78 | Any footballer his age who tries to flick the ball to a marked teammate with his instep in a tight situation in the edge of our box has no business playing at this level. He's a five-a-side player not a real footballer and needs to be fired out of a cannon. |
Yeah we saw that - does my nut in when I'm playing on a Monday night and a team mate does the same rather than keep the ball or play a simple pass. Let alone a professional doing that!

Madsen on 11:30 - Apr 10 with 2450 views | Padulas_Shampoo | Don't think I learned anything on him last night. He's always looked very technically proficient. He also has the pace of a glacier and somehow gets even slower off the ball. Maybe he did a bit more last night and it was like playing with 10 and a half men without the ball rather than the usual 10. He'll look good in certain games and certain situations. When he gets plenty of ball to feet in the opposing half with movement around him he'll effect the game. I think we've already learned than he'll far more often effect the game negatively with his practical refusal to defend and muck in. He's a total luxury that we just don't need.
Madsen on 11:34 - Apr 10 with 2441 views | Brighton_R | Thought he was decently average - which is a huge improvement for him, making it his best performance for us by a mile. He even caught one of their players with a stray elbow in an aerial duel. Had to rub my eyes to check it really was him
Madsen on 11:49 - Apr 10 with 2350 views | Dorse | I wasn't particularly complimentary about him pre-match but I have to say he played better last night than I expected. He was more involved and played some nice passes that opened things up for Field and the overlap for Paal. I know that we've collectively set the bar pretty darned low, if we're praising him for the basics, but give credit where it's due: it was an improvement from him in a pressure game. Even WLS gave him a 7. 'Nicolas Madsen: 7 By far his best performance for Rangers. Not one for the cut and thrust of Championship football, but some of his link-up play was useful and he delivered the corner for the opening goal as well as one which Dunne volleyed over.' https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-oxford-qpr-player-ratings-090425#go [Post edited 10 Apr 11:50]

Madsen on 09:14 - Apr 10 by TheChef | Yeah overall a much better game last night, decent with the ball, nice corner for the first goal. BUT I agree out of possession on the defensive side, he doesn't have a clue. Positionally or in terms of when to press and make a challenge. If he hasn't learnt that or had it coached into him by now, I'm not sure he ever will. Hope I'm wrong! |
Don't think that's fair to be honest - he was a lot more involved defensively last night. Got some blocks in, helped with the press. I don't think he'll ever be more than mediocre out of possession, but as long as he's involved instead of being a complete liability that's fine if he makes up for it in other areas which he was showing signs of last night. That said, it really helped him to have Field playing further up and I think him "fading" in the second half has a lot to do with Sam going off. On that note, Field and Varane both had really good games and while Varane still loves to go backwards he played some nice forward passes last night - let's just not talk about that one back to Nardi which nearly cost us...
Madsen on 13:46 - Apr 10 with 2026 views | numptydumpty | Nico played decently last night Was impressive at the start. Faded but was noticeably better than previously. Good to see the guy have a decent game. Pleased for him. Keep it going my boy...

Madsen on 09:16 - Apr 10 by DesertBoot | Oxford were absolutely dreadful in the first half and Madsen was made to look good. When they upped their game after the break he disappeared and was duly hooked. A dud purchase. |
I tend to agree. For some reason (ask Rowett), Oxford were one of the few teams that didn't play a high press. In fact they didn't press us at all first half and Madsen revelled in the space and time he was given. Unfortunately, that is a very rare occurrence. In the second half Oxford were far more aggressive and Madsen's influence duly faded. His set pieces are really good, and he's clearly a decent player, but not for the Championship.

Madsen on 16:45 - Apr 10 with 1754 views | YokelR | Disagree, we are wasting our time with him. His problem is his attitude and lack of guts call it what you will. He's had a season to change his attitude and hasn't so he won't. Get whatever you can for him and learn from the mistake. Think arrogance played a part at signing someone loads of clubs looked at and said no. Pay him off like Ferdinand did with several of his failures.

Madsen on 07:35 - Apr 10 by gazza1 | Give the bloke a break, done a decent job in the first half, credit where credit deserved, tired in the 2nd. Did he take the corner we scored from?? Passing and work rate was good. A lot of nonsense about he didn't have to work in that formation - dunno where posters get it from!!! Played his part in a good opening 20 minutes and generally in the first half =- well done lad. |
Problem is 20 minutes out of a season says it all really and against probably one of the worst two teams in the division. Looked an interesting recruit when signed albeit competing in a much lower standard. Unfortunately hasn’t cut the mustard - youngsters that have come in because of injuries have had much more of an impact. If you don’t put yourself about you have to have the ability that lets you get away with that unfortunately he doesn’t - not his fault we spent so much on him but think they will try to unload him in the summer.

Not sure there are too many managers about who are OK with their number 10 having a free pass. I think we should focus on others for the number 10 shirt and off-load him (and Celar).

100% agree about the lack of press, just bizarre. Regarding Madsen, he appears to be a bit of a conundrum. He doesn't run around like a looney so he gets pelters, but his link up play was very good last night. He looks like he is the sort of player who needs an arm around the shoulder rather than a hairdryer. Personally I think he would look a really useful player in a team doing well and on the front foot. I don't think it is a coincidence that last night and Luton away he looked a lot better. It says more about the state of the team rather than his lack of ability.

Easy to forget when you are a QPR fan, but I suspect Oxford's start was a lot to do with nerves. They had a great win on Saturday, but this was a game they would have targeted because they are good at home and we are crap away. They did not look fluid at all until that spell when Varane put us under pressure with the silly pass back to Nardi and Madsen did his flick. After they scored and bought the young lad on, their tails were up and they had a renewed energy and upped the press. We really, really needed Yang's goal to kill them off...

Madsen on 07:56 - Apr 10 by gazza1 | He was decent in the first half, done a good job overall in most of his responsibilities......no need to criticize him for the sake of it. I am setting 'no bar' except my own and I do not have a low bar. As for Benny, fully out of his depth but I understand that he is a young lad in a man's game playing in a CF position. |
Re. Benny the guy from not the top 20 podcast was really impressed by him so much so that he has him as his bet to score against Bristol at 7–1

Madsen on 21:00 - Apr 10 with 1329 views | WestonsuperR | Clearly has footballing ability. Was at the match last night and watched him throughout, good first touch, can pass a ball but doesn’t seem to do the very basics which is running and tackling. They all wear trackers I believe and the stats must surely show he simply needs to run about a bit more!?

Think you’re being too kind to him - brief cameos against Luton and Oxford - two of the poorer sides in the division make him a long way off being a really useful player in my opinion. Nothing to do with the state of the team all to do with his lack of impact when given. The opportunity

I know it's unfair but I am imagining his tracker sounding like something you hear in the background on Casualty just before about 20 people run in, shout 'Clear!!' and start zapping the patient.

Dorse - in my head I just hear the beep, beep, beep of a reversing truck. These are his stats from Oxford. These stats have since been bronzed and can now be viewed in the entrance to the training ground to inform, educate and inspire future generations, along with his 7 from WLS and his actual match worn jockstrap.

Benny may score, if he plays against Bristol, but he was our worse player at Oxford and out of his depth. Hopefully he would have learned a lot from his experience.
